My fiancé and I are eloping pretty soon here and are planning on throwing a party with all our friends and family (~125 people) in 2022. My problem is we are looking for a venue under $1500 and it’s quite difficult for me to find one. We are fortunate to have a lot of the big ticket items (DJ, Catering, Photography) being gifted to us by family/friends who do them as a hobby and now I’m looking to find the venue so we can set a date and this whole thing feels real. Any help is appreciated! Thank you!

Contact the local parks department for venue rentals. Though nearly all will require licensed professionals. If you are having friendors, especially catering, you will have to use either your house of worship you belong to or your backyard.

The caterer is licensed and it’s being gifted to us by my future father in law! The others are friendors. The only non professional friendor is the photographer! Sorry that wasn’t very clear, I’ll probably edit it.

Here are a few BYO catering venues I found that are close to your budget:
Red Bluff Community Center
Civic Park Community Center in Walnut Creek
Adorni Center in Eureka
Lucie Stern Community Center (I think rentals start at $2,500 - but it's gorgeous!)
Highlands Country Club in Oakland
The Chateau Room in Pleasant Hill
Old Whaling Station Historic Adobe and Gardens
Harper Alumni Center at Sacramento State
