Non-religious Wedding Ceremony Venue, help!!!

Victoria, on September 23, 2020 at 2:50 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 7

My fiance and are getting married on June 20th, 2021 and we're really struggling with finding an indoor ceremony venue. Most places require you to hold both the ceremony and reception together but we already have a reception venue booked. We're looking for a place large enough for at least 175 people in the Plymouth, MI area. I've had a lot of trouble getting in touch with churches and a lot of their policies involve extensive meetings with pastors which I'm not a big fan of doing rn. If anyone has ideas, let me know! Most places are just too small and I'm getting really frustrated. Thanks!!!

Can you have your ceremony at the same venue as you’re having your reception?

No, they only allow on site ceremonies in their chapel and we would both have to be roman catholic. Neither of us are.

It is going to be very hard to find a ceremony-only location in Metro Detroit, especially indoors. (I know because I tried.) There was a bride who was looking for venues in Plymouth a few months ago, so it may be worth it to do a search of the forums to find her post. I think she may have found some options in Livonia? Can't remember. I hope you find something!!

Not sure if you'd like something like this or if it would be indoors in your area, but my venue is a zoo. They let people do one or the other there, but we're doing both. You might have to think really non traditional like that. Similar vein, maybe a museum?

Thank you! There are a few museums in the area I can try to get ahold of.

Like someone else said, think public spaces. Not sure how strictly you mean by "indoors" but maybe a park with a pavilion? Museums, libraries (not like your average public library but if there are any fancy ones near you), historic buildings. If all else fails, a hotel could likely accommodate you.
