Non-floral Centerpieces

Lisa, on July 2, 2020 at 10:56 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 55
Looking for inspiration for centerpieces! My fiance does not want to do floral centerpieces. Anyone have any fun/creative ideas, or did anyone else do non-floral centerpieces? Would love to see what everyone comes up with!

Candles always look beautiful, but some venues like ours don’t allow open flames. You can always make your table number above and beyond some how and have it double as your centerpiece. I’ve seen stacks of books, vintage items. You could do a lot what’s your theme or style going to be ?

Candelabras! We bought on eBay for about $24 each I think. Looked great in our venue (check to ensure you’re allowed an open flame though. Not permitted at some venues).

I considered candles (they can look so pretty!), but am hesitant with the open flame. I like the books idea! We were also considering wine bottles, but don't know how to make that look nice. We don't have a specific theme that we're trying to stick to, though a lot of our other decorations and items (guest book, escort cards, etc) have all been a forest theme. Our colors are cerulean blue, sparkly silver, and white.

WOW those look awesome!! Perfect for your venue! I'm not sure if our venue permits candles (I'll have to ask), though I'm hesitant of open flames. Did you end up blowing out the candles before open dancing started? Or did it work out OK to leave them lit all evening? I think that's my biggest concern with the candles.

Oh I like it! With forest theme you could do some moss and rocks and have a wine bottle in the middle with the table number in the cork or a wine label as the table number. A little fairy garden would be cute. Or pinecones with glitter! I think you have a lot of non floral options. Have you looked at Pinterest for some inspiration?

We still might have small floral centerpieces but we're also looking into feathers. You can also do candles. Either open flame or floating LED candles.

Candles! Or just nice vases with string lights inside. There are so many ideas on pinterest if you search non floral wedding centerpieces.

Great ideas, thank you!! I hadn't even thought about most of these - I like the moss, rocks, and pinecones (with glitter, of course!) idea, and also the fairy gardens! Each one could be slightly different at each table. I started looking through Pinterest a while back, but kept seeing a mix of floral centerpieces as well as non-floral ones that used a lot of greenery, or ones that I just wasn't inspired by. I bet if I instead search for something a little more specific (such as, "fairy garden centerpieces"), I will probably have a little more luck. Thank you so much for your help, much appreciated!!

Ours are mason hard with leaves and lights on top of a slice of wood.
This picture isn’t exactly what we’re doing but it was the inspiration.

Feathers are a unique idea! I really like the candles on the upside-down wine glasses too. My fiance and I both love wine, but couldn't find a way to incorporate the wine bottle in a way we both liked, so the wine glasses may be a good alternative. I also like the ones with numerous candles throughout. I'd have to check with my venue to see if candles are permitted first. Thank you for the suggestions!!

I love how unique the shape of these vases are! Seems like candles are a fairly popular choice and versatile, I'll have to check with my venue to make sure they're allowed. Thank you for the suggestion!

We haven't picked out an official theme, but a lot of our decorations and other items (guest book, escort cards, vow books, etc) have kind of been a forest theme. Our colors are cerulean blue, sparkly silver, and white.

That looks super pretty! Good inspiration for a fall wedding. I've seen a few suggestion of fairy lights in mason jars, they seem to work out pretty well!

No problem! And I agree, the wine glasses would be a nice personal touch. Hopefully they allow candles. If not, you can see what you can do with the LED ones. I don't see why they wouldn't allow LED. They're flameless lol. Good luck!

We haven't done this yet obviously but we plan to do a pineapple on top of a wooden disk, surrounded by artfully placed clumps of Spanish moss. We wanted something meaningful and inexpensive, and this checked off all of those boxes. My fiance works with trees so we wanted the wood disks (and he can get them/sand them for cheap), pineapples are symbol of Southern hospitality (and are like $3 each), and Spanish moss is everywhere in the area we're getting married in (and is free).

We have 3 different colors of tablecloths: sky blue, seafoam green, and turquoise. Napkins are navy.

This is a sketch I drew of it when my mom was fussing at me for wanting non-floral centerpieces, lol:
