No wedding party but .....

Sydney, on May 12, 2020 at 10:56 AM Posted in Planning 0 3
So my fiancé and I have decided that we don’t want to have a set wedding party in the bridal fits or have a bridal table, but we do want a select few of our friends to be there with us before our big day. Basically groomsmen and bridesmaids without the added costs of bridesmaid and groomsmen (ie. dress/suit costs, shower costs, planning responsibilities).
I’ve been in both of my best friends weddings and want them both to be with my that morning and I want to ask them in a cute way just like they asked me (mailing them gifts & FT since we all live so far away), but I wouldn’t even know how to word it.
Any ideas?

It's fine to not have a bridal party. And it's fine to invite your closest friends to get ready with you. But if you make a big production of inviting them with gifts I think it might be really confusing (since that's what some people do with wedding parties). Especially if you do it 2.5 years before your wedding(!).

Instead, I think it would be better to just ask them to get ready with you (close to your wedding date, not this far in advance) and then give them small gifts as tokens of your friendship that morning (not that gifts are required, but if you still want to give them gifts). That way, there's no possibility of them misinterpreting your request or intentions.

Thanks! Made great points & totally makes sense. I won’t invite with gifts now that I’m thinking about it. && a side note, my wedding wire info actually isn’t at all indicative of my wedding date or plans (:

I'd just ask if they want to get ready with you on the wedding day! I think it would be nice if you were treat them to professional hair & makeup as well - that way you're really all getting ready together, instead of them just hanging out with you while you get ready!
