No Vegetarian Options - Vent

A friend of mine is having BBQ for their reception. My fiance and I are vegetarian, but were told that those types of meal options weren't considered but we can bring our own food. Does this bother anyone else?

I would attend, but they would not be receiving a gift from me. Instead they would be getting a card with a invoice/receipt for the food that I had to bring to THEIR wedding. Smh.

Ohhh yes. My wifes family, even before I met them, made damn sure there was something for me to eat..even if it was just spaghetti or a salad that they made for me. Rude AF. I wouldn't attend.

Wow that is so rude!! My FH is a vegetarian so our venue said we could choose whatever we wanted (they said normally people just tell them to do whatever) we decided to go with what they made him at our food tasting because he enjoyed it and it also happened to be gluten free so if anyone has that restriction as well they are covered.

My friend's wedding a couple years ago they only had vegetarian meals for people they knew were vegetarians. So while there were 3 at my table, only FH got the special meal because the couple didn't put a meal option choice on their rsvp cards since it was a buffet. The two other vegetarians ate asparagus and mashed potatoes for dinner. It was not enough food and everyone at the table felt really bad for them. I doubt you're the only vegetarians going and some of their other guests are going to be surprised (not in a good way) when all they can eat are sides for dinner.

ETA: My friend felt terrible when she found out this happened it was just an oversight on her part.

I'm a vegetarian also & we just recently went to a wedding where I couldn't eat much at all, so I just ate a little tiny taco filled with rice & drank water the whole night. I'm the only vegetarian in that friend group & they were aware of it before inviting us. I wasn't too bothered by it, even though it was frustrating but I'm used to it. We have some weddings to go to after ours & I doubt there's gonna be much that I can eat at both & FFIL hates that I'm a vegetarian so the petty part of myself wants to serve only vegetarian food at our wedding just to piss some people off but I'm controlling myself & there's going to be options for everyone.

I've been vegan for 8 years and have come to terms with the fact that I'm different and shouldn't expect any special treatment for my lifestyle. I can easily get offended, but it's easier to just eat beforehand or bring my own food.
