No Question- Just a tiny rant. Wedding Date Clash

Bibi, on March 7, 2017 at 11:30 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 10

So we just received a Save the Date via FB that's the same day as our wedding. It was from my FH's friend, I'm pretty sure we sent them a STD. The sad part now their friends have to choose and we were actually looking forward to their weddingSmiley sad We even talked about our wedding to them, and they talked about theirs but they had a different date set.

I'm sorry to hear that, that's really frustrating. My suggestion would be to get his bridal party locked down asap. My brother waited on his and it turned out another old friend from high school was getting married on the same day. One of my brothers best friend had already committed to being in the other wedding. It felt wrong not having him there.

They did end up doing a joint bachelor party in vegas that sounded pretty cool. Maybe FH could do that if there's a lot of friend overlap.

Yeah you are within the 6-8 months so if he hasn't asked his GM get him on that ASAP.

Sucks that they have the same day. Nothing you guys can do about it but it's going to make for some awkward conversations with mutual friends.

We have pretty much everything planned. I sent out STD back in December/January and my invitations should come in next week. We already have our bridal party. Since its a FB Event you can see who's going and my FH is just kind of getting upset when he sees people that he invited to our wedding say they're going to his. I tell him not to worry, guys don't really look at dates like girls do. They probably don't even realize it's in the same day.

That is so true. And really. They have a fb group?!?! Personally I would pick the wedding with the STD and physical invitations over a fb wedding any day of the week. Tell him to relax.

That's true, my FH would have no idea what the date was on an STD from January haha! Tell him not to let it stress him out, people respond to FB events all the time with no intention of going. Really annoying though, of ALL the 365 days this year...

That's really annoying and rude. I'm sorry you're dealing with that. Some friends of ours decided to get married the weekend right after ours. Both weddings are out of town and require 1.5-2 hour flights. I'm not happy about it and may not attend since they're also getting married on a Sunday. I'd be shocked if they actually show up to ours as well.

Wow that's frustrating! I would say FH should reach out to key people that he is concerned about possibly not attending. And I agree that a real STD definitely trumps an FB invite, I'd pass on a FB wedding for sure

Not ideal, but part of life. It happens. I'm sure it's nothing personal.

So sorry to hear that. I wouldn't go based off of the FB invites though, people answer all yes all the time for events on there which they don't go to.
