I would stop washing your face with the oil free products. This is going to sound weird and wrong but over washing can mess with your skin and cause it to produce even more oil. I would wash with a gentle cleanser and drink a lot of water for a few days and see it that helps. I'd leave your skin alone and just let it be for a little while.

I was never on birth control, but I had moderate acne that I COULD NOT get rid of. About 2 weeks ago I ordered proactiv and so far it's working pretty good! I got sent an oil control cream that I used twice a day and my face is no longer oily throughout the day and it's not dry either. I still get a few breakouts, but I think that's common until the proactiv gets EVERYTHING out. I can say though, my face looks miles better than it did 3 weeks ago. If you're able to, try calling when you see the commercial and you usually get free extras like the oil control cream Smiley smile

Oh and sorry to sound like a downer, but ance NEVER goes away with time...it heals and "goes away" but once you stop your routine, it will come right back. There is no "Cure" for acne sadly Smiley sad

If you go the Proactiv route, which I have not, they sell it at a kiosk thing in my mall. I know you are in a time crunch. Not sure if your mall will have it but just thought I'd share.

Some higher end beauty stores may sell it also, like Ulta or Sephora

I think there is kind of a cure to acne. Your skin is the largest organ in your body. I used to have horrible skin...blackheads (those are a b$tch), pimples, and redness. I tried tons of face washes, pore strips, treatments, nothing helped.

Then, I stopped drinking cokes (including diet) and my skin got so much better. I continued not drinking cokes, quit smoking, started exercising and eating well and my skin is 100% better. I hardly even get a pimple on my period now. I sometimes get redness around my mouth when it's that time of the month. I am not saying it will work for everyone. I know some people are cursed with acne, and that sucks. But overall taking care of myself really made a huge difference in my skin (hair and nails too).

I have had oily skin and acne for the longest but I recently have took things back to the basics. I do the following:

    1. Remove my makeup with olive oil

    2. I wash my face with raw organic honey(antibacterial and antimicrobial)

    3. Use apple cider vinegar for a toner(the smell goes away)

    4. Moisturize with grapeseed oil (less than a pea size amount)

I use Mally's Primer perfection stuff for my face and I never get as oily as I did. I pretty much stay matte for the whole day.

My skin feels really soft, acne scars have faded, and less acne. I'm going to be doing this forever now.

My dermatologist recommended skinceuticals lha cleanser. I have tried so many things and so far, this is the best. My FH even uses it! It clears up those clogged pores so fast--especially in the T zone. On amazon, its 28 bucks. Its very concentrated, so you don't have to use a lot.

note: I bought this mostly because of my oily skin on my back but it worked so well I used it on my face and I'm in LOVE!

Sunshine & Sprinkles! I LOVE olive oil for my skin. I put it on my face with a cottonball before I go to bed. I wake up to glowing skin. I also use Indian Clay Healing mask and mix it with apple cider vinegar, a little bit of honey, and a touch of tea tree oil. Love it!

Yeah, I am planning on going off of BCP in a few months I suspect the same thing will be happening to me. I've been using a green apple peel from Juice Beauty that really helps with exfoliation which has kept my skin really smooth.

Before I was on birth control I had better luck when I used gentle products. I used an oil cleanser to remove make-up at night, a gentle cleanser in the morning, and Some retina-A every other night. That seemed to work the best. My skin wasn't perfect but the breakouts were minimal at least.

I've heard good stuff about that mask. I've been on a natural kick lately. I've really gotten in to coconut lately too. I use it instead of lotion.

@Mrs. M. I don't know if you can view it online, but Proactiv also has a catalog that lists all of their products and what they are best used for. I didn't get the refining mask in my kit, but I LOVE that one. I also got the dark spot corrector and few of my old acne spots are slowing disappearing Smiley smile

The mask is excellent! It works best if mixed with apple cider vinegar (I use Braggs), it kinda hurts, you definitely feel some tightening and clearing of the pores but it WORKS.You can buy it at health food stores, Amazon, and now they even carry it at HEB. I don't think I'll ever run out though. The tub is humongo and it's only 7 bucks. Mrs. M you should try it too. It will make your face red for a good 30 minutes after you wash it off but it is like a miracle worker. Here is a link to it on Amazon, even if you don't purchase it, the reviews are worth reading.

Mrs. M, don't be afraid of olive oil. Read up on it on the internet. I have a very oily t-zone and olive oil has never broken me out.

I had the same problem! I do not recommend Proactiv, its too harsh to the skin and if you skip one day then you will break out all over again. I swear by St. ives Apricot Blemish and Blackhead control and it leaves you face so smooth and feels tight and fresh. I then use the Garnier firming moisturizer. Good luck though!

Mud masks are awesome! I'm not familiar with the brand that Lindy is talking about, but I do love Queen Helene's (it's like $4 at drugstores/Walmart). I am going to try it out with the apple cider vinegar, honey and some oil since I already have all of that stuff (I've also been on a natural/DIY scrub/conditioner/moisturizer kick lately lol)

Mrs. M - make sure you are moisturizing! Not doing so, along with overwashing with oil free products, will make your body just produce even more oil to compensate.
