No/ minimal makeup?

Shado, on October 3, 2016 at 6:02 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 37

Hi all! I NEVER wear makeup. I have not done so in several years. Have you thought about not wearing any makeup for your wedding? Or if you're already married, did you go bare and would you recommend it? What about just a little bit- maybe mascara and lipstick? I know its customary to put a lot on at weddings so your face shows up nicely in the pictures, but I'm just not comfortable in it.

Makeup is a personal thing! If you never wear it and feel uncomfortable doing so then there is definitely no need to wear it in your wedding day.

I wore minimal makeup! My DH likes me more natural anyway. He told me he rather it be me instead of a fake version of myself - which I was so thankful for. LOL. I also was happy because I was able to use that money elsewhere. Totally a personal opinion. Just because I don't like it, doesn't mean someone else will too.

I'm getting mine done for the big day frankly because I just feel like it would be good. I am just like you in the fact that I never wear any. Like ever. I think the last time I wore any actual make up is my freshman year in high school. My FH is so use to seeing me without it that I think it will surprise him that I have it on at all. It will however be very minimal. No foundation. Just eyeshadow, mascara and lip gloss.

Depends on how much you value your pictures quite frankly. No make up?- your face is going to be lost in pictures. I can tell when people DIY make up or don't put level any effort into the seriousness of make up. The eyebrows. They never have eyebrows. And lips. They look like are round shape with eyes. no brows- no lips- no cheeks- just a pan with eyes.

    And that's it.

I assume you put some level of effort into a date night when you go out to a nice restaurant?

This is the biggest date thus far of your relationship, and you want to look pedestrian? I'll never understand that.

Even 'natural' looking make up is heavy. Get your make up done.

It doesn't have to be pancake make up. But you really should have some if you want good pictures.

Go to a MUA and express your concerns. They'll be able to find makeup that doesn't feel heavy but still gives your face dimension in pictures.

What you wear is totally up to you, face included. If you want to do a trial run, try Bare Minerals. Their foundation/blush is light coverage powder. They do make great mascara, too... just sayin'.

Makeup on your wedding day is all about the photos. You may not wear it every other day of the year, but I can almost guarantee you're going to wish you had it done after you get your photos back.

Why would you spend thousands on a photographer and your dress/accessories, and not do everything to make YOU look the best you can?

I hardly wear makeup so I'm going for a very natural look when I do my makeup for my wedding

I think you should at least have a makeup trial and decide.

I hate wearing heavy makeup or fake lashes but my MUA used air brush and smaller lashes and I was comfortable. Good MUA can really bring out your natural beauty.

I rarely wear makeup, mostly due to not having the time with 2 littles at home.

I had my makeup done for the wedding, I was in awe that even though I felt like she put a ton on, I still looked like me, just a more polished version.

Here's wedding day, I'll load a picture of what I normally look like so you can see the difference.

I'm definitely team makeup, it's an important day, you're wearing an expensive gown, wearing fancy shoes, probably getting your hair done(unlike you normally wear it) so why wouldn't your face be part of that?

I never ever wear makeup, but I wore makeup for my wedding. I went with a natural look and it looked great in the photos. As much as I hate wearing makeup, not looking washed out in the photos was more important to me

I love makeup but don't wear a ton of it on a daily basis but I'm doing the whole shebang for the wedding.

Here's me on a regular day:

A good MUA will be able to take your preferences into account, and make you look like a natural version of yourself, in person AND in photos.

This is me right after my makeup trial, when we did our e-pic shoot. I asked my MUA for a natural-ish version, with some light glam around the eyes. I didn't even feel like I was wearing makeup, it was so light!

I never wear a lot of make up either- lately I prefer to just go without it.

But I want my pictures to be perfect and I know that your face gets washed out sometimes. I feel it's a necessary evil (if you will).

I also think it's a good thing to get pampered on your day. Let someone take care of you and make you feel good!

Ideally though, it's about what you feel comfortable with.

I never wear makeup and feel really weird when I do but I feel like if you go to a professional they can enhance your features without making you feel like a different person (and really you bought the dress and are getting your hair done, may as well go all out on your big day even if it's not a full face of makeup/just enough to really enhance your features.)

I'm the same way, I never wear a drop of makeup, but I'm definitely getting it done for the wedding and any other picture-heavy days there might be. As PP said, my choice is for the sake of photos. I think I'll initially feel uncomfortable and not like myself, but ultimately I know I'll regret it if I don't... so I think we both just need to suck it up for the day, lol.

This may seem silly, but what if you practice wearing some in the privacy of your home? I needed a very dramatic makeup look for a Halloween costume one year, and had no idea what I was doing, so I practiced at home many times in the weeks before... I found myself becoming more and more comfortable with it to the point that I hardly gave it a second thought when I finally wore it out in public. Maybe that could help you too?

Definitely see if you can wear more make up regularly to help you adjust to your face with it you'll feel more comfortable!

My MOH wore very minimal makeup and was gorgeous. A little foundation just to even out skin tone a bit, mascara and lipstick.
