Hi all! I NEVER wear makeup. I have not done so in several years. Have you thought about not wearing any makeup for your wedding? Or if you're already married, did you go bare and would you recommend it? What about just a little bit- maybe mascara and lipstick? I know its customary to put a lot on...

Or if you're already married, did you go bare and would you recommend it? What about just a little bit- maybe mascara and lipstick? I know its customary to put a lot on at weddings so your face shows up nicely in the pictures, but I'm just not comfortable in it.

I'm going very minimal which is my preference. My FH has already mentioned on 2 or 3 occasions that he rather I not wear any makeup at all. I plan to do eyeshadow, modest lashes, light lipstick, and a little powder to knock off some shine. You don't necessarily need a professional MUA and a full face of makeup when having professional pictures taken. There's no one right answer.

Great idea to try it out at home! Thanks for all your input, I'll buy some and start playing with it at home to get more comfortable with the idea!

I think you have to have really great skin to pull this off. Like PPs have said makeup is important for pictures.

Meh. I don't buy the 'it's all about the pictures' nonsense for two reasons. 1-- I want to enjoy my wedding DAY, I'm not planning for my wedding pictures. I feel weird with makeup on, DH doesn't like to kiss lips with 'goop' on them, ao there you go. And, 2 (and I confess, this is the feminist in me talking) how often do you hear someone say the *groom* must wear makeup? Sheesh. I never wear makeup, I didn't for my wedding, I am perfectly happy with my pictures. Not to mention, a MUA costs a bundle, plus you'd want to do a trial, so that's two bundles you're saving by skipping it.

I didn't want to do foundation because in my trial I felt like I had a mask on, so my MUA used Smashbox CC cream instead and it was exactly what I wanted. You could see my freckles, it just added a little evening out. I had brown eyeliner and some blush and some highlighter and then lip gloss. I felt like me! Don't go all glam if that's not how you feel comfortable, but it might feel special if you wear a little something.

My DH asked multiple times that I didn't wear any either, so all I used was powder, eyeshadow, mascara, and a bit of lipgloss that I talked off before I made it down the aisle. And I couldn't have asked for better photos. They may not be as glorious to everyone else, but my DH and myself absolutely love them. They look just like us.

It is really all about what you want. I am super happy with our photos.

This was me on my wedding day. My makeup wasn't super heavy, but enough to pop in pictures.

Sometimes I wear makeup sometimes I don't but my daughter in law does an excellent job. She did my makeup for my shower and it totally transformed my face so she's doing my makeup for my wedding

MrsMcPherson - You look beautiful, I always love your pics because we have the same dress and I'm obsessed.

OP - On a daily basis I wear eyeliner, or nothing. That's it. But I am going to glam it up for the wedding while hopefully still looking like myself. Do a trial sometime and see how you feel rather than doing it for the first time on your wedding day. We have our engagement pics on Sunday afternoon so I'm doing a makeup trial that morning.

    MrsMcPherson- you do look lovely-

But I can promise you- from 15 feet away- your face was lost.

As far as the "MEN DON"T WEAR MAKE UP.

1.) Honestly - yes-they should. Really they should. Stage performers do- it's expected.

2.) they have stronger features by nature- their face is already more chiselled.

3.) look at the BULK of wedding pictures. Focused on the bride- not the man.

So- great- have a fit- scream and moan that make up isn't "you" call my blessed lip stick "goop" I don't care.

    Honestly- I don't.

    They are your pictures.

Everyone looks better more polished with a well done professional MUA face.

    Everyone.

This does not mean people are ugly- or not beautiful in their natural state. But make up serves a very clear and concise point- and men may say they don't like it- women may say they don't like it- but the reality is- EVERYONE even MEN look better with some make up on.

If you don't feel comfortable wearing make up, I suggest not to wear it, or at least just wear something very natural that you can barely notice.

JoRocka has a point.... men do in fact wear makeup... stage performers, news anchors, actors, basically anyone in front of a camera...

Also along with the bulk of the wedding photos, how many of them do you them your photographer touched up the faces?? Our phones automatically do that crap to our face now... it's the same as makeup.. maybe not necessarily eyeliner and making things pop, but hiding blemishes and what not..

For me... a close friend of mine is doing my makeup.. I know, I know, a friendor, but it's only because I've had a bad experience with MUA, and I myself, don't wear makeup.. I wear eyeliner and mascara and Carmex haha.. we have a date for her to do a trial.. I trust her because she used to do our make up when we were on the dance team together.. I want more of a natural look too but she knows what needs to stand out like JoRocka said..

They’d want to look best for their husbands. If their husband likes them better natural, so be it.
