NO! It's going to storm on my wedding day...

BlueSkies, on September 11, 2016 at 8:54 AM Posted in Planning 0 22

Well, we took a chance on an outside ceremony. At least there is a backup plan of having it in the reception hall, which is indoors.

The forecast so far is this: Rain showers in the morning with scattered thunderstorms arriving in the afternoon. High 76F Winds 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 50%

So....

Has anyone ever attended a wedding that was rained out and was it still beautiful? Tell me it was still beautiful.

Haven't been to a rained out wedding but you still have time for the forecast to improve. Stop stalking the weather. Trust me. I had 90% chance of rain and storms the day and evening of my wedding. It hardly sprinkled at all the entire day.

@Amanda, really!? That's awesome! I'm so obsessed with weather.com right now, it's like a tic. I'm checking it every hour.

Okay, I'll try to give it a break for a few days.

The weather will change 100 times before then. I've already told myself I'm not going to look at the weather and if anyone mentions it to me I'm going to freak out! Everything is indoors but the dreaded S word could be my problem.

I checked out those rain photos.. they really are gorgeous. At least there would be a good photoshoot opportunity.

    I'm praying for sunshine.

I'm getting rained out as well. We have a great plan B but I was looking forward to sunny beach photos.

The forecast will change like seven more times haha. My friend's wedding in April, the forecast said right up until that morning that there would be drizzle and clouds during her 5pm ceremony. It didn't rain one bit all day. If you're still worried, get those cute clear umbrellas. I've seen some adorable rainy wedding day photos!

@Megan J. I feel you on that S word, date twin! But whatever happens, happens. As long as the officiant is there (and FH) that's all that matters, right?

We had just the opposite. The forecast called for sunny, warm with a high of 89 on our day. It was cold, 40*, with 45 mph winds and gray and overcast with fog so thick you could not see more than 50 feet ahead of you.

just to give you an idea of what we had.

@Alecia haha that is so true. I didn't even consider that.

I feel a lot better now that everyone is convinced the forecast could change. Even though that is the advice I would give someone as well, it's nice to hear it.

You're right, @Alison, as long as FH and the officiant are there, it's all that matters!

I can breathe a little better now lol

@onawho the pictures turned out so pretty, though! And I love the scarf! I guess you really never know with the weather.

It's too far out to have a true prediction. The weather can change. I was at a wedding once that there was wind, rain and hail. The weather was horrible but the wedding was beautiful. They just did everything inside.

Easier said than done I know but try not to stress too much about the weather, it's gonna do what it's gonna do so regardless it'll be okay! Smiley smile A large portion of our day will be outside and I've told myself if it rains we'll have some badass pictures for sure, you'll still be a beautiful happy bride no matter what and I'm glad you have backup plans that's good!

Order those see through umbrellas and cute rain boots for some pictures! I think the rainy day wedding pictures are so amazing, I almost want it to rain on my wedding (but mine is indoors so it also doesn't really matter)!

And also keep in mind that you have some time still and the weather could change a lot in the next 12 days... ETA to add clarity and fix typo.

My wedding was Friday it was supposed to have a courtyard ceremony. Thursday morning it started pouring with no end in sight. We moved it indoors. I can't wait to see our photos with the huge windows behind us and the rain pouring down!

It is WAY too far out for an acurate forecast. I've been checking mine for a week now, and it changes every day. Have a rain plan, and be ready to make a decision when it comes down to your deadline. Right now, mine shows mid-60s and 30% chance of rain. It had shown everything from 70% chance to no rain, and temperatures from 60 to 75.

It's really early to be predicting this. The weather system I use predicts 90 days in advance, but after about 5 days out they just really use guesswork based on averages over the last few years.

And no matter what, your wedding will be beautiful!

Our wedding was at 5pm on August 13th. It was an absolutely gorgeous day, and then at 4:30 it started thundering, at 4:40 the bottom fell out and everything was absolutely drenched so 140 people rushed into the reception barn, at 4:55 it stopped and everyone went back outside to their seats, and at 5:10 I walked down the aisle. Everything was gorgeous. Wet. But gorgeous. You've just got to take what the day throws at you. It will all be okay! You're getting married! That's the most amazing and important part.
