No hangover wanted

*Rigby*, on February 25, 2014 at 2:30 PM Posted in Planning 0 8

I have been working on my dreaded budget today and I was wondering what is the best brand (for the price) of vodka and rum?

We are planning to have a "his drink" rum and coke and "her drink" vodka and cranberry, what are the best brands? I don't want to buy top shelf because we can't afford that but I don't want to buy the cheap crap either. I don't want to have a hangover lol

(beer and wine are on the list as well and I am way more familiar with those)

I mean... if you don't want a hangover, then don't drink. or stick to beer and wine or whatever.

I'm not sure how true this is, but my friend just told me that the Costco Kirkland vodka is the same as Grey Goose at half the cost.

Non-sugary drinks are the best way to go to not have a hang over. And drinking plenty of water while drinking the night away is good too. And taking advil before you fall asleep.

My own personal favorite is Stoli vodka if I can't have Grey Goose.

For vodka, Skyy or Three Olives are affordable options that don't bother me too much (as someone with chronic migraines, I have to be very careful about what I drink).

Rum is going to hang you over no matter what, but Bacardi is decent and affordable.

Another option would be to serve a sangria as your specialty drink. It's affordable (you can use cheaper wine) and easy for bartenders to dish up. One easy recipe is two thirds sauvignon blanc wine, one third white cranberry juice, and plenty of fruit. It's light, not too boozy, and looks really pretty: http://cdn.abclocal.go.com/lwhd/images/2009/stevenandchris/8885120_600x338.jpg

I think Absolut is fine for vodka, if youre looking to spend that much. You could also try Three Olives (a little cheaper) or Stoli (which is one of my favorites and less cheap, but cheaper than Ketel one or Grey Goose). You could also go with Smirnoff if you want to be on the even lower end. Personally, I wouldn't go any lower than Smirnoff Smiley smile

In terms of rums, Mount Gay is on the cheaper end.... I like Captain Morgans (a bit darker than Bacardi, which is a lighter rum), so it depends on the drinking preference of your guests. I think you'll be fine with any of these three. Appleton is also a pretty cheap Jamaican rum if you're looking on the lesser ends of things.

In terms of hangovers, as stated above, avoid the sugary drinks. And avoid mixing types of liquor Smiley smile

I appreciate the help! Smiley smile

I prefer kettle, grey goose, or tito's. Otherwise I'll skip the vodka.
