Hi guys. I just had my trial for hair and makeup for my wedding. I wasn’t a fan, so I’m gonna change some things, but it wasn’t awful by any means. I went to my mom’s house to try everything on (dress, shoes, jewelry) with the hairstyle and makeup. They started pointing things out immediately, giving me that “ehhh” look. They’re honest which I definitely appreciate, and a ome of the stuff I definitely agreed with. However, it’s really been messing with my head because they did not say one nice thing. No “beautiful” or “stunning”. I get some things needed to be tweaked, but they could’ve said something nice. The best I got was “your hair looks fine” and “the straps look better”. I’m heartbroken. Only a few weeks to go... I don’t have time to change much of anything. My confidence is so low right now... 😞

    I'm sure looked beautiful! Unfortunately some people are just that way. Try to ignore the negative energy/comments and focus on you. Know that at the end of the day, you feel pretty, your fiance thinks you're beautiful, and no one else matters.

    Well like you said they were being honest. I think the hair and make up you did not like so that can be changed. Did you love your dress? That is all that matters. Do not stress because everyone has a different style. I am sorry that the experience was not the best but at the end of the day I do not doubt your husband to be will smile from ear to ear when he sees you and that is all that matters. Smiley smile You got this and you'll look lovely.

    Oh girl! That’s awful! Did you get pics? When I did my hair and makeup trial, I had them take pics (I didn’t have my dress yet). It was just me, my soon to be MIL & the artist. I didnt want too many people there criticizing & having me over think everything. They even took pics of the back of my head. There were things I loved & things I hated. We are our own worse critics. Don’t over analyze everything. This is your day! You’re about to marry your best friend!

    You admit that your hair and makeup was not exactly what you wanted. So that can be fixed. However, I’m sure you bought the dress that YOU love. So, since no one else is wearing it, they really don’t have to love it. Your family is honest and you appreciate that. So I’m not certain if you wanted their honesty or if you wanted them to provide standard canned responses. That’s the catch 22.

    They might have a different reaction when you change up the hair and makeup and it's on point. Some people have a hard time seeing past the not so great things in the full look to see the beautiful parts. My mom is this way, I'll try on an outfit and have on like slippers because I haven't bought the right shoes yet, and all she will comment on is the slippers not going with the outfit or something else unrelated to the outfit, and I'm like mom I didn't ask for your opinion on my whole look which isn't even completely I just asked how the shirt looks. It can be annoying and make you feel low but I'm sure they will complement you when the look is finally all figured out.

    And this is the dress. It looks snug in the hips/waist area. It gets those stretching lines after taking a few steps. But the associate at the bridal shop AND my alterations lady both told me it fit me like a glove. The alterations lady said she could let it out, but that she didn’t think it needed it at all.

    I LOVE your dress (don’t think I’m just saying that! I truely do) it looks like it fits perfect, but can understand how it changes when u move. Don’t worry about you family, they’re nitpicking!

    Your dress is beautiful. Consider the personality of the person commenting. You can't expect from her something she just won't give. I love your makeup! How do you feel about your hair? It's your wedding and you have to feel comfortable

    My mom can be like that....I always feel like if anything is out of place or wrong with me, she will find it in two seconds, lol, but I know she's just trying to help. That includes at my bridal shoot when she told me that one boob looked bigger than the other. I was like um, it is. Thanks for making me paranoid about it! I think you look gorgeous!!

    My mom is the same way but she does it out of love. She knows I’m a perfectionist and she wants the best for me so she is very blunt when I ask her for her opinion on anything. You are a BEAUTIFUL girl and your dress fits you perfectly. Fix the little things YOU want to fix and don’t let it stress you. You’re going to look amazing.

    Oh. My. Goodness....you are gorgeous!!! Honestly, your "entourage" was probably thinking you wanted 100% honest, "perfectionist"-type comments. They were probably thinking "Ok, lemme mention the changes I think she'll want to make from the trial to the wedding day, so that she can look her ABSOLUTE best on the wedding day." They probably thought it was enough to give the "beautiful bride"-type comments at the first fitting, but they don't realize that as a bride standing before her loved ones, we need that reassurance! We need the positive along with (perhaps) the constructive criticism so that we can perfect the look with the H/MUAs on the day of! Don't worry, bride...you got this! Rock that look!
