No booze, need ideas for beverages!

Yam, on July 15, 2019 at 6:35 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 22
I know, I know. A sober wedding kind of lands my wedding in lameweddingville but the venue doesn’t allow it. We chose a time of day/day of the week less appealing for drinking but I feel like we should do more. The wedding is this September and it’s an enchanted forest theme, I’d love to come up with some theme friendly drinks.

I was thinking italian sodas could be nice, our dinner is from an Italian restaurant. It could work maybe?
A beautiful fruit infused tea?
Lemonade that has something special about it?
”Mocktails” that have a beautiful color?

FH has been looking into making his own zero-alcohol mead but we’ll see. It’s a lot of work.

Any ideas? I’m all ears!

We are having a dry wedding too and our caterer is providing a lemonade stand that has lemonade, tea, and different types of fruit to muddle it with so people can create their own. In addition to that, we are having lots of sodas. I think Italian sodas are a great idea, as well as mocktails or lemonade for people who aren't soda drinkers.

We’re having a dry wedding as well. We get lemonade and sweet tea with our meal. We plan to Coke, Diet Coke, Sprite, maybe root beer, water, and possibly Gatorade. Making fancy drinks or something like Italian soda never occurred to me. Hmm.

I make a punch for parties that's great with or without any alcohol in it. In a punch bowl you mix, a gallon of Hawaiian punch (flavor of your choice) with a 2 liter of Sprite or 7UP, mix, then scoop ranbow or orange sherbet on top. It's really good. For my niece's baby shower I made it with blue punch and then put plastic ducks on top to float. You can add anything

This is honestly a relief. I’ve seen so much negativity online about dry weddings, like it’s the cardinal sin of weddings. I’ve been feeling really bad about it, like a bad host. I want guests to be well fed and enjoy themselves.

My grandmother used to make that punch! Smiley smile Thanks for the fond memory, I’ve long forgotten. My mother insists a wedding needs punch so this recipe could make her really happy and we could play around with the colors. Excellent idea!

Our venue also doesn't allow alcohol but our wedding is all 50s and doowop so Coke seemed the natural choice to use because diners and all but we haven't figured much out besides that.
I'm loving all the ideas in this chat though!

🙋 I'm doing a dry wedding too! We're doing a soda bar because we're casual. But for mocktails I love mixing ginger beer and sparkling lemonade. You can add mint or raspberries. Cranberry with sparkling water or cider is great as well.

The punch someone mentioned is a great idea! You could also do root beer floats or orange creamsicle floats for something fun and different.

I think those all sound like great ideas to spice it up! I would love the italian sodas and pretty colored drinks. I will say I have always been a fan of the punch with ice cream haha. You can put it in a glass dispenser so it's not so unsanitary feeling.

I love mocktails! They taste delicious and people can have as many as they want and don't suffer lol.
