No bachelorette for me but bachelor party for him?

MrsD2011, on July 27, 2011 at 1:10 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 17

Am I the only bride not getting a bachelorette but fs is having a bachelor party? My moh & bms r really spread out, so we wont all be together till the fri. Prior to the wedding. And I have no friends (no joke) besides my moh that lives near me. Now I am okay with this, I desperately want my fs to go out & have an amazing time with his.buddies. But I was just curios if any other brides are having the same thing.

Looks like its going to be that way for me too Smiley sad

FH is upset that he isn't going to Vegas for this bach party, meanwhile my MOH hasn't mentioned my party at all.

We both had one but they were small- 6 people total for each of our parties... we invited like 25. Obviously we dont have many good friends either! You and your MOH should go out and party. No ones going to know if its just u 2 girls or not... i lost my party while dancing!

When my MOh got married only 2 of her people showed up ( one was her mother)- so 4 of us total. we had a fun time too.

I think people have this vision of the parties being some huge ordeal when in reality they arent! Its all about you hanging out with your closest friends.

I am having a bach party, but FH is not. This was HIS choice, not mine. Even after he told me that he didn't want one, I still encouraged him to at least go out and do something fun with his BM... BUT he said "well, I could do those things any day I wanted" which is true.... I just really wanted him to do SOMETHING. He just doesn't like the whole "last night as a free man so gotta have one last crazy night out" type thing. He said if he believed he had to have that just because he was getting married then he shouldn't be getting married. Etc. He explained it all to me and it made sense and I see where he was coming from... BUT I still want my night out with my girls. Not in the sense that "it's my last night", but because by the time it comes time for my bach party, a fun night out with my girls would be a great stress reliever & break from all the wedding stuff I've been doing and as it get closers, you only get busier with wedding stuff so I will be looking forward to it!!

I'm essentially in the same boat. I don't have a ton of girl friends (my bridal party is a total of 3...1 is my FH's sister and the other is the gal that introduced us). I don't honestly understand the point of a bachelor/bachelorette party...so I never intended to do one either. But my FH's best man is taking him to NY or Vegas as a surprise with the other guys in the wedding...should be fun for him! I'm jealous of this, so I've booked a weekend at a spa in the mountains with my MOH to enjoy my time Smiley smile Just do something for yourself with your MOH! Smiley smile

We will probably end up both having one. Dont let the limited amount of guests stop you! Like Anjuli said, even if its you and one other person, go live it up for the night!

Sounds fun a weekend at the spa, my moh is also not a party type, so I get it.

Although a crazy stripper party isn't necessary, you definitely need to celebrate in some manner- you'll never have the chance again!

If your friends can't come to you, why don't you fly out to them for a weekend?

I told my FH from the beginning that I don't believe in the traditional bachelor party. We are doing a combined bachelor/ bachelorette party and making it into a camping trip for everyone who wants to come party.

Actually- I'm not having a bachelorette party. Unfortunately, the majority of my close friends are already attending a bachelorette party the only night I could have had mine. They all wanted to talk to her about doing a joint one- but I'm not for that and I've never met this girl. We know of each other- but we've never met...

FH is having one. Some of his friends (a lesbian couple we both adore) and coming from out of town. The guys are going golfing in the day, before hitting the bars/strip club/whatever atrocities they get into that night. So the girls talked about us going to the spa during the day...

Looks like that will be the case for me, and that's fine with me. I'm just not local to any of my close girlfriends, and many have young children (or are about to).

DH had a bachelor party with his friends at our apartment while I was at work. He had a lot of fun and the house was even cleaned up (though he was passed out on the bed, lol) before I got home.

I had a night out with my sisters, DH's sisters, a few friends, my mom, my grandma, and some of my mom's co-workers. We went to my favorite place to eat and they even had some gifts for me. It was a blast, but I dont know if it would fall under the typical "bachelorette" party.
