nj wedding attire- 4 months left

Jackie, on December 11, 2020 at 8:26 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 22

I'm located in NJ and i still have no clue what to wear to my wedding.

I am NOT wearing a dress. I'm a tomboy. And would never ever wear a dress.

Unfortunately, I'm a horrible clothes shopper . I found myself leaning more towards a suit, but with out a jacket. ( button up and vest. ) but i have also looked into jumpsuits, but i don't know if i feel comfortable in them. Plus Idk what shoes i would wear. I dont wear heels. Maybe a flat shoe..? I'm horrible at shoe picking out too. I rather wear a pair of boots Smiley xd

With Covid, most of the clothing shops are not allowing you to use the fitting rooms. Only buying and returning within 7 days with tags on.

This has made things even more complicated. Just ranting here... Smiley sad

Shop online at the local department stores: Dillards, Macy's, etc and most have a live chat where they can help you out.

I think a jumpsuit would be nice. You can always wear flats with them, and amazon has a bunch to choose from. Good luck in your search though!

Oh no. That does sound frustrating! I'm not sure if a suit will be more comfortable.

Depending on where you’re located, there might be some really cool custom suit companies that can help you find something that fits your body and style. I’m in Portland, and we have a place called DapperQ: https://www.dapperq.com/2018/10/get-suited-dapperqs-picks-for-where-to-get-suits-for-any-occassion/

Maybe a new pair of vans or converse for your shoes? Typically they are casual shoes, but they can easily be dressed up with a fancier outfit and they are super comfortable.

Jumpsuits are cute but annoying when you pee lol. Just nice/formal white pants and a white top would be great if you dont want to go all out with an expensive outfit. Some vans or converse or sparkly sandals or low boots boom. Maybe, you can do white bottoms and a different color top if you want to be opposite from your partner.

Not sure where you are in NJ, but my friend is one of the store managers at White House Black Market at the Rockaway Mall and they are allowing people to try stuff on in the fitting rooms. I don't know if they'd have anything you'd want to wear to your wedding there, but they probably have some sort of jumpsuit and at the very least you could try one on in the dressing room and might get a better idea of whether or not you feel comfortable in them,

Many online retailers will also allow you to buy and return even with Covid. Check out Lulu's. They have some jumpsuits, most of their clothes are pretty affordable, and they have a pretty good return policy. Nordstroms is another store that has super easy returns.

I will caution that if you have a non-average torso length, jumpsuits can be tricky to fit. I have a long torso and many jumpsuits are just too short in the torso and feel like they are cutting me in half. But then every so often I find a jumpsuit that fits just fine and is really comfortable. So its worth trying a few (ideally different styles and different brands) if you don't love the first one you try on.

I think some of the other looks others have posted - suits, pants and vest, pants shirt and suspenders - are all great looks and great options as well. As for footwear, flats, sneakers, or boots are all options! Loafer/oxford style shoes would look good with a suit or dress pants and a vest or shirt and suspenders, but you could rock sneakers (I'd go with Converse, Keds, or similar style) or nicer ankle boots/booties with any of those looks as well. You should feel comfortable and like the way you look on your wedding day.

That you! I’m in South Jersey but I was looking at Depford Mall and they do have a White House Black Market. I will try to see if I see anything in the online variety before I go there.
I’ll also check out those other stores as well and make a list of possible places to try first. I’m 5’3” and 103 lbs . I definitely like the tighter fitting style then looser look.

I do like the plain white pants.
I am so difficult because I like the more “elegant tops like with a cape or long sleeves “ or something “different” then average. But then at the same time I’m like “nah that’s to girly, I need something more “tomboyish style” 😂 I joked with my fiancée And said was going to wear a half suit half girly outfit that look silly or just sweatpants and a hoodie it I can’t make up my mind!!! I’m going to post a few styles I have found so far.

Pant suits and jump suits can be so chic without being overly girly. One other thing to keep in mind with a jumpsuit is that going to the bathroom is a bit of a pain because they are one piece, so I would just consider that as well when deciding what to wear for your day. If you are having an all day affair at an outdoor venue and using porta potties you might not want to strip out of your jumpsuit to pee, whereas if you have nicer bathrooms or are doing a shorter event in might not matter as much. Usually when I wear a jumpsuit its for a nice event when I only think I'll be wearing it for a few hours.

One of my friends isn't particularly girly (I wouldn't call her a tomboy, she's just not "frilly" if that makes sense) and she wore her sister's dress for her own wedding and then changed right into a jumpsuit after the ceremony. The jumpsuit looked amazing on her and was so much more "her". She's later said she kind of wishes she wore it for the ceremony too (but it ended up working out because a big storm rolled through right before their outdoor ceremony so the dress got super wet and dirty, then she was able to change into the jumpsuit which looked flawless for the rest of the night). In the end, it's your day and you should wear whatever makes you feel comfortable and confident in how you look.

So here are some looks that I’ve found so far that seem pretty cool. But idk if I trust the website they are on. I rather work with a ligit company website that’s familiar or a In store place
