Next Day wedding bbq

Erica, on January 3, 2019 at 6:18 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 8
My fiancé and I want to have a bbq the day after our wedding for some of the family we’ve invited. However, it would be nice if everyone doesn’t show up at once and people could come and go during the time frame we provide. Is there a way to word that on an invite? Or any thoughts? (This could be an unrealistic desire)

Call it an "open house" type event and post the hours.

This. As long as you have several hours to host it, an open house seems like the best option. If you're only planning on hosting a two or three hour event, it would be difficult to spread out attendance.

I like the wording “drop in” as well since it implies the coming and going at different times

I would just say something like "Stop by for a goodbye BBQ on (date) between X PM - X PM!" so people know it's more of a drop in thing.
