I am getting married this New Year's Eve wondering when should I send out my invitations because it's a holiday and when should I ask for rsvp

Did you send a Save the Date? Many people have their NYE plans by now.

RSVP date should be about a weekish before your numbers are due to your vendors. Gives you a few days to track down stragglers. As for the invites 6-8 weeks is typical, especially if you already let them know the date in advance.

The STD should have went out 6-9 months prior, but too late now.

When are your final numbers due to the caterer?

I have to get my final count to the venue on Dec. 16, I'm thinking of making my RSVP date sometime the week of Dec. 5 so I have time to follow up with people who don't respond. I'll probably send invites out late October, by Halloween at the latest

ETA: There are a few other NYE brides on here who I'm sure will give advice.

If you've already sent save the dates, send your invitations in November.

Of course you don't know who can come - you haven't sent out invites yet lol.

I asked you when are your final numbers due to your caterer.

We're also getting married 12/31/2016. We sent out save the dates, and we are planning on sending out wedding invitations late October--because it's holiday season, and we know people will be busy getting ready for Thanksgiving, etc. We plan on having our guests RSVP by Dec. 3. NYE is a peak travel time, and it's also peak season in Arizona, so we want to give out of town family and friends plenty of time to make their arrangements.

What Sarah said about when RSVPs are due.

Since you already sent STDs, I don't think that the invites need to go out earlier than usual because of the holiday, so normal time should be fine.

So, the STDs actually went out nine weeks ago, not six. I think you're okay with that -- unless a couple has a long-standing NYE event they attend annually, not many of them are making NYE plans in June.

Just out of curiosity, what does your wedding timeline look like?

Oh, and make sure to do a hotel block ASAP (hotels will fill up quickly on NYE). The thought of your guests driving home on the "drunkiest" night of the year is a concern.

Same as MelissaErin, our final numbers are due 12/16 so we are having an RSVP deadline of 12/5 so that we have time to contact those that don't reply in time (something my family is notorious for). We plan to send invites mid to late October.

My brother got married on New Years Eve of last year and they sent out their invitations like mid November I think. They invited 400 people and ended up with about 350. People still rave about what an awesome wedding they had!

My venue recommended putting the RSVPs date either the week before Thanksgiving or the week after because of the holidays.
