New Years Day—jan 1st wedding date

Melissa, on October 28, 2019 at 10:16 PM Posted in Planning 0 8
One of my favorite choices for venues only has Jan 1st open for around the time of year I want. I feel like most of my family won’t mind, but I’m not sure about the younger crowd with NYE being the day before. I feel like if you’re my friend and especially if you’re my bridesmaid you wouldn’t drink to the point where you’re hungover the next morning for my wedding day, but idk if I can say the same for my fiancé’s groomsmen. But then again they’d probably just drink more the next morning to get rid of it. What are your thoughts?

Unless you want a morning or early afternoon ceremony, I think you’ll be fine.

I think you'd be fine! New Year's Day would be a fun anniversary too! I'm not sure what field you work in, but a lot of people have that day off every year so you may be able to be off work every year on your anniversary! That'd be really nice!

I think you'll be fine. Plus people are adults, I think if they know your wedding is the next day they'll be mindful the night before. I think ha having a wedding on New year's day would be really fun.

Yes, i agree with this. Start your wedding late in the day, so you & your guests have all day to get ready without having to wake up early.

My FH's birthday is Jan 2nd. And we have trouble getting anyone to celebrate besides just us🤷‍♀️ Nobody in our circle ever seems up to a party on the 2nd

My biggest concern would be people having to work the day after. This would be especially true if you have anyone that has to travel.

So mine would be 1/1/21 which is a Friday so people would have the weekend still, so that’s another reason why we considered this date.

Generally, it’s nice to avoid any holiday or holiday weekends, but to each their own. Some people prefer it and others don’t. At the end of the day, this is YOUR day and people can choose to celebrate with you, or not if it’s that big of a deal. Good luck!

I think the date sounds good! If people want to turn up they can likely wait until your wedding to do so!
