New wedding invites

Emilie, on June 23, 2020 at 7:54 PM Posted in Planning 0 11
Hi all!

I’ve had to postpone my wedding (twice now) due to corona. My fiancé and I don’t want to wait another year for our third new wedding date, to be married. We’re going to get married at the courthouse, but still plan a ceremony and reception when gatherings are allowed again. I’m changing the wording on my invites to say “celebration of our marriage” as I want to be upfront with people about already being married when we have our grand ceremony. Should I also include a small card in the invites stating the date we got married, and why we didn’t wait due to the circumstances? If so, how do I word that? Is it even necessary?

You don't need to provide an explanation. People elope all the time when there isn't a plague.

    You could word it as:
Your Name and Husband's Name got married on Date. Please join us for a renewal of vowson Dateat Location
    Reception to follow

I don’t think that additional card is necessary

Have you thought about a “change the date” card? I think keeping it short and simple is just fine.

I have thought about that, but I never sent out save the dates in the first place. 🤦🏼‍♀️

I don’t think it matters whether you sent save the dates.

Change the dates are for postponing your wedding, so maybe it would make sense to send those at this time if you are postponing.

That’s true. And at least people would know now that things have changed. I’ll do that. Thanks for your help!

Hi Emilie! I've also seen some good templates that say "Change of Plans" or "New Plan" - there are a lot of new designs for all these wedding updates!

I started looking at those too! I’m definitely going to send out an update to everybody, and that will kind of act as my “save the date” since I didn’t send those out first time around. Thanks so much Lynnie!
