new wedding date etiquette

Reasie, on May 27, 2020 at 1:36 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 17
I am considering postponing my wedding to next year, should I send out new invitations, Save-The-Dates, and RSVP cards or just do a text or email message to my already invited guests?

What steps did any of you who had to postpone take?

I was on zazzle or one of the other invitation sites the other day and they actually have cards available for new dates. I think I'd just send those out and closer to the date, send new invitations.

That's a good idea. I got my original wedding stationary from Vistaprint. I'm going to see what they have available for the Change-The-Date.

    Thanks you 🌹

We are sending postponement cards. They are going out just about the time we would send out the invitations in a week or so. They weren't super cheap, but we bought a "petite" size ad didn't add any extra flair or frills. They serve as a "save our new date" and we will hopefully be able to have the wedding next year and send the real invites.

    Thanks for your response🌹
You're right, they're not "super cheap". We postponed from June 27th to September 5th but our venue still haven't confirmed whether we can have half capacity or just 10 people inside the building so my FH and I are seriously considering postponing until summer or fall 2021. A redo of stuff wasn't considered in our budget. 🙄

I would send Change the Date cards as opposed to new Save the Dates, which might be a little confusing. (I know Minted has some, but I think there are options on Zazzle and Vistaprint as well.) Then just send out a new invitations about 2 months before your new wedding date!

I would wait until you know the exact date and info before sending it out. And maybe you can do evite as a change the date. Some are free. try e-vite, punchbowl or one of those. Good luck and hopefully 9/5 will work every state should be open by then (fingers crossed since Im having a DW in Jamaica 9/26)

A digital "change the date" is a good cost saving option. A new invitation with RSVP (whether card or online) is pretty much necessary to make sure all of your guest are aware of the new date and are able to RSVP to your new date.

Mention that you had to change due to Covid and they offer a discount. I got 50% off!

We did it digitally. Our guests just asked to be kept in the loop if we have to do anymore postponements.

    Thanks for the reply.Smiley star

E-vite may be the answer. I hope 9/26 is your golden date. Thank you.

With such a long postponement, I think I would resend invitations when it got to the 6-8 weeks before the new date. You could send a text or social media post to announce the change of date now (rather than sending out Change the Date cards). My cousin only postponed their wedding by a few months and it was such a small guest list that they alerted us by word of mouth and asked us to just send in the same RSVP cards.
