New collections from wedding designers, how do they work?

Rachel, on September 11, 2020 at 11:56 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 5
Hi, ladies...

Just a random quick question. I’ve read in multiple articles that designers will come out with new collections every 8 months or so, (Spring, Fall collections, etc.)... Hayley Paige’s new Spring 2021 collection is coming up and I know trunk shows will be happening first before the gowns are even available in-store to try on, etc. my wedding isn’t until 2022 so I don’t plan on starting to seriously try on gowns until next year, but are there any experts out there who know when new collections start hitting stores after the trunk shows? HP’s Spring 2021 trunk show is happening towards the end of this month and unfortunately I can’t attend (there are a couple of gowns from this collection that I have my eye on), But I’m hoping the collection hits stores soon after so brides can try them on! Does anyone know time frames, etc. for when new collections arrive in stores beyond trunk shows?

Hi! I work for a boutique that carries Hayley and other designers that work on similar timelines. Usually after the collection debuts, the new gowns can take about 6 months to come in, and they don’t come in all together. They kind of trickle in as they are ready. Boutiques usually have the ability to borrow a couple of gowns from designers based on availability prior to them being available in-store, but there is usually a fee associated with doing this. I think with your wedding date you’ll have time to wait for the collection to hit stores, but probably not enough time for the Fall ‘21 gowns. Hope this helps!

Thank you so much! I am going to keep an eye out for more trunk shows happening after January, so I’ll keep my fingers crossed that the two I have my eye on will be there! I know they say that you should look for gowns at least a year out from your wedding date, so I’m keeping that in mind as well! Fingers crossed!

I loved the borrow program! I was able to get in 2 dresses from the new season, for a small fee, to try. I also got her to get one in from the previous season. I chose one of the dresses, and she applied the fee I paid to my dress order. It was such a great option as I wasn’t finding exactly what I wanted.

A year is great lead time, but as long as you find “the one” 8-9 months in advance, you should be able to avoid any rush fees and be just fine!

Yes trunk shows and borrow programs are great! Especially when you have very specific styles in mind. Congrats on finding your gown!
