Needing Additional Waitstaff/helpers

Amanda, on August 7, 2018 at 8:29 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 6

Hello! We're hiring a full service caterer. They're setting up/breaking down/cleaning up all the food/items they bring. We are bringing in additional items for other parts of our wedding pre-wedding trail mix bar, things for cocktail hour (pretzels, biscuits, etc) and desserts for late night snack - all things that we love locally. The caterer will not allow their staff to handle or touch these additional items or anything they don't bring - which I completely understand. Is it possible to hire additional waitstaff from another vendor to help in making sure these additional items are taken care of - set out, cleaned up, rotated out, etc? I know there are these types of vendors out there that offer waitstaff, bartenders, etc, but was wondering if anyone else had ever done this before.

The job sounds pretty simple and it doesn't sound like professional experience would be needed. Do you have any friends with high school age or college age kids that could use a little extra money? Or know any teachers that could give you names of reliable kids?

Thanks for the response. Unfortunately, I don't. I've thought about that. Almost 100% of my guests will be coming from out of town and having to travel for the wedding so no one will be local to the area.

Do you have a college nearby that you could post an ad with their job center? When I was in college I did lots of jobs like that where I would work at people's private parties. As a college student, it was good money and I enjoyed it.

If you look under the vendor tab on Wedding Wire they have a subcategory for things like this! There are companies in my area called Helping Hands and things like that. Good luck!

I would pick up temporary jobs like this through a staffing service if it fit in my schedule when I was college age. Is something like that available in the area of your wedding?

Hi Amanda! Welcome to the WeddingWire Community! Smiley ring I think posting ads in nearby colleges or local coffee shops could definitely help spread the word! You could also look into local companies who offer these services!
