Need venue for 3k in Socal

Linda, on January 5, 2020 at 1:25 PM Posted in California Planning 0 18
Hi my fellow brides!!!

As you all know, this wedding game is INSANELY expensive. My fiancé and I are on a super tight budget, and are looking for venue recommendations for around/under $3,000 (with or without the rentals). And of course we would bring in our own catering and booze, and do the whole DIY thing..
We ideally would like the location to be in or around Temecula, but are open to OC or San Diego.
We have about 150-175 guests, and are open to anything creative, like art galleries, warehouses, gardens, public spaces, whatever. Any help or suggestions you guys have would be soooooo appreciated, thank you!

Have you looked at Reptacular Ranch? Another option that's over your budget but includes all rentals, centerpieces, and professional photography is Abbott Manor in Temecula. There's a new place called Luna Bella Ranch in Temecula; I don't know their pricing, but it's a beautiful venue. There's also Blue Barn Lavender Farm, in Sage, I believe.

Thanks so much Nicole! At first glance I think these are all outside our budget, but I am definitely going to look deeper and see if they are workable. Cute spots!

There's also Oak Canyon Nature Park in Anaheim. They only allow ceremonies, but many people who have their ceremony there move over to Yorba Linda Community Center for the reception. That may be more in line with your budget.

I highly recommend looking into the French Estate in Orange. It holds 150 people. While the price point for a ceremony and reception is a little above your venue budget, the package includes a lot, including the rentals, and there is no obligation to use any vendor, nor is there a fee for outside vendors. They do have special deals with their preferred vendors to consider.

The Fletcher Estate (also in Orange) holds up to 150 people and starts at $3,200.
The Orange Coast College Planetarium is $1,200 for ceremony and $2,000 for reception and holds 200 on their patio. At the same community college, the art gallery and garden are also venues that are affordable.
The Riverbed Farm in Anaheim is $3,900 for both ceremony and reception that ends at 8PM or $4,500 for both that ends at 10PM.
Millennium Barn at the OC Fairgrounds in Costa Mesa holds 150 and is $1,050 to rent. The fairgrounds also has other rentable venues.
There’s also lots of city and county owned venues and parks around SoCal that are pretty affordable to rent. There’s too many to list, so I’ll link my spreadsheet here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/16oLyBviL6fA8uKD0Kgfhh48uFtNEMksZuHirgjyjNXk
    Good luck!

Holy cow girl! RESPECT. Your Excel is something to be in awe over! THANK YOU SO MUCH for all the recommendations and the AMAZING resources. I have been wanting to access public or historical spaces so your database is a great start.

We have an appt at the French Estate on Tuesday so let's see how that goes. I've already looked into the others you've suggested too. Again, THANK YOU!!!

You’re welcome! I’m more than happy to share it! Much easier than trying to remember and type everything out lol. I’m personally hoping that the French Estate works out for you! It was my second choice venue (ended up going with a more expensive venue) and I’m hoping to someday go to a wedding there!

My venue, the Heritage Museum of Orange County, is on Ocbride2019's spreadsheet, but you are required to use their caterer for food/alcohol (though they are extremely well priced for what they offer). It's a bit over your price point for peak season, but it's an incredible venue. They are having their annual Bridal Show on January 19 (online tickets are $8; $10 at the door) so you can walk the grounds and meet some of their vendors. That's a pretty good list that she has created, so hopefully you'll be able to find something that works for you!

I had it at a tea house with an outdoor area that only holds about 80-90 guests max. I chose to go with a smaller guest list to accommodate the theme I wanted. It was definitely a a splurge venue as I had to bring everything in, but it was worth it to me.

Montana Cielo in Jamul, CA is where I got married and it was around 4000. Incredibly beautiful venue and lovely owners.
Marina del Rey is also an affordable San Diego venue. And they have a couple of different options

I have a friend getting married there and she got a killer deal for having it on an off day. But it’s a lot of DIY.
I’m using the California Center for the Arts Escondido. They do have options for appetizer only receptions, lunch, or taco bars etc to keep the cost down. But with that many people I’m not sure if it’s doable. We decided to spend a little more and have everything taken care of for us. I have done some DIY decor items but that’s my limit.

I would look in to community centers. Jamie Wolfer is a wedding planner in SoCal and a you- tuber. She made a video about her SoCal budget wedding. This might help you out. She also ahs a ton of other videos as well that I find super helpful.
