Need Stella York contact, dress ordered a year ago hasn't arrived

Elaine, on June 13, 2018 at 8:13 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 10
I ordered my wedding dress from a bridal salon over a year ago and it hasn't arrived. The salon cancelled my fitting last week saying the dress was held at the border. I asked them for the tracking number 3 times and they avoided the question each time. This along with some other facts that I won't bore everyone with, leads me to believe that the salon forgot to place the order. I want to contact Stella York to prove this so that I can use it as leverage for a discount and not point fingers before I have my facts. The salon rescheduled my fitting for June 23, yet the dress still hasn't arrived and my wedding is July 7. Further, anyone know what happens if the dress doesn't arrive on time? Further, if the dress does arrive by June 23, is that enough time for alterations. The salon keeps just responding to my questions with we look forward to seeing you in your dress and we will call you when your dress arrives.

Yikes! It sounds to me like they might have forgotten to. I've heard of dresses taking as long as 9 months to arrive but never over a year.

The only mode of direct contact I can come up with in a quick Google search is their Facebook page. Try sending them a direct message.

As for alterations, it all depends on what all needs to be done. A simple hem and bustle won't take as long as taking in/letting out, adding sleeves, etc. But at this point I would trust my dress with another shop/tailor.

Do you have a back-up dress?

I'm so sorry this is happening, I can't imagine the stress. Keep us updated on what happens and perhaps start thinking about finding a back up dress just in case. There are beautiful off the rack dresses out there. I also agree with ThePeoplesBride that you should consider finding a new tailor as I wouldn't trust them with my dress once I received it.

I would start looking for a backup dress at this point and demanding a refund on the dress you ordered

Tried messaging on facebook and it is ran by a bot, so I am going getting sufficient answers from the bot. I will try calling today. My mom went to the bridal salon yesterday for me since it is a 2 hour drive away for me and only the seamstress was in. The seamstress wouldn't give her information, but did tell my mom when the Sales Manager and Owner would be in next. So my mom will go in Friday again. I will keep everyone posted.

I was a bridal consultant for several years for several designers such as Vera Wang. The boutiques often tell brides the gowns take 6-8 months to arrive, which depending on the designer is sometimes true (for instance Pronovias because it is being hand made and shipped from Spain). But most of the time gowns actually arrive within 3-4 months. They unfortunately most likely forgot to place the order or they had to send it back for another gown due to a mistake. I would go into the shop in person, ask go talk to the manager, and then ask the manager for the contact info for the representative that handed the sale (each designer has a "rep" consultants will place the sale with). I'm so sorry you are going through this! Stay positive and hope everything works out!

Hi Everyone. Thank you for all the support, guidance, advice and well wishes. My dress arrived last week and they gave me same day alterations on Saturday. They didn't admit to what happened, but did apologize and provide free alterations and a half price veil aftee my mom complained on the dress taking over a year to arrive. They took the fault, but did not admit to the mistake. Can't have it all. I am now ready to party and marry the love of my life after the stress of recieving my wedding dress 2 weeks before the wedding date! And I thought I was being super prepared and organized ordering the dress more than a year in advance!
