Need some major help with ceremony decor inspo!!

Lindsey, on March 14, 2021 at 9:27 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 5
We’re having a backyard wedding. We will be getting married in front of a hot tub gazebo (pic below), it wasn’t my first choice but it’s the best option with our yard layout. We are starting to pressure wash, stain, and landscape of course. The gazebo hasn’t been kept up in a while so it looks a little run down. We plan on hanging semi sheer white/ivory curtains on the inside to hide the hot tub & chairs. Now my grandfather has recently offered to take me to a florist to have them do some decor for the gazebo, but I have NO CLUE what I want for it!!!

I will attach pictures of my overall vision for the wedding so you can get a better idea, but it’s very greenery heavy and any flowers I want sprinkled within greenery in white/ivory/cream. A very “natural” simplistic type of feel I guess? I’m just having trouble finding floral inspiration for my specific ceremony backdrop.. If anyone has some pictures or ideas to share I would be so appreciative!!!Need some major help with ceremony decor inspo!! 1

Depends what ‘in front of’ means. If you’re going to have guests facing straight on to the gazebo, I’d do an arch for you to stand in front of, and then something like swags running along the top of those white bits either side. Instead/ also you could do hanging baskets, or greenery going up the vertical supports of the gazebo. You could also use the same material you’ve using on the inside to drape on the outside, and put greenery at key points where it attaches.

If you’re going to be in front of the gazebo in another way, I’d use an arch as a focal point and then maybe some lower arrangements off to each side to visually create a ‘font of the room’. If they slightly angled in towards the arch (rather than being at 90 degrees to it) I think that would help to draw people’s eyes in to the focal point. You could also use some sort of props either side of the arch to give a similar effect - something like low fence panels, or painted trellis, or a line of lanterns or something. Or you could have your bridal party stood in such a way that they create that visual ‘front for you’.

Take the photos of the gazebo and your inspo when you meet with the florist. They should have ideas, as well as being able to advise on what’s most cost effective.

This is sort of what I was thinking of when I suggested draping fabric on the outside. You could use greenery as the ‘tie backs’

Thank you SO much this was really helpful! Yes I did mean the guests would be facing towards the gazebo, should’ve been more clear about that!

My pleasure! In that case, I think you can dress the gazebo to give you a really pretty backdrop.

Check out Costco for greenery! You can get 25 feet for $99 - most other places charge upwards of 200-300 for the same length.
