Need some ideas

Ebony, on December 14, 2020 at 7:45 PM Posted in Planning 0 18
My wedding is scheduled for March 6th 2021. We are having an intimate wedding with family. What type of wedding favors should I purchase? Thanks in advance

Favors are totally optional! If they're not in the budget, it's fine to skip them. Otherwise, if you're wanting to do favors, choose something either edible (decorated cookies, smores kits, chocolate, etc) or practical (luggage tags, picture frame, sunglasses, etc). I would avoid putting your name/wedding date on the favors (unless it were on a wrapper or something). Most guests probably wouldn't use a picture frame with your name and wedding date on it.

Do you have a theme for your wedding? That may help you narrow down what favors to give. Many couples provide individual edible goodies as favors, and in recent months, many people have handed out hand sanitziers with specialized labels or masks as favors. But favors aren't required or necessary if you don't want them. My wedding is a small 25-person wedding in January. My fiance and I are providing personalized hand sanitizers in the guests' welcome bags. Also, my fiance is a hobby baker so he'll be baking caramel cakes, cream cheese pound cakes, pralines, pecan pie cheesecakes, fruit tortes, and chocolate chip/pecan cookies that we will individually package for guests to grab and go at the dessert bar after our welcome meet and greet the evening before the wedding. We're treating those items as our "favors."

Thank you. We are sending a wedding picture as a thank you card. Do you think that’s okay?

The theme is “Family Affair”. I love the idea of a welcome bag. We will have about 27 guest. After the wedding I plan to mail Thank you cards with our wedding picture.

I think that's a great idea! I would also include a note with the picture, but I love the idea of sending a picture with the thank you note.

How about his and her favorite snacks! That's what we're doing, popcorn and freeze pops. I honestly haven't used not one favor from a wedding or baby shower that I've attended lol. Not on purpose but it literally set on my counter for MONTHS! If it's something edible they can eat it on the way home or another day. We have an evening wedding with open bar and even though they'll have a full meal we think they'll need something on the way home after a night full of drinking and partying lol. So popcorn and freeze pops it is. They can even enjoy the freeze pops on the dance floor 🤷🏾‍♀️😂

Regardless of the size of your guest list, people generally leave favors behind. Even the edibles. Take the money you spend on them to save for a rainy day or put it toward the guest experience they actually remember (good food, not opening their wallets at all, a good dj) or toward your photographer because memories are what you'll be left with after the flowers die and cake is eaten.

That’s a great idea! In our welcome bags, we are including a note welcoming guests to the wedding and an itinerary for the weekend, a personal sanitizing pack (hand sanitizer, travel size Lysol), our favorite candy and snacks, bottled water and tissue. Our hotel is also adding some info about dining and activities nearby.

Oh ok well you could still totally do something edible if you like. I saw someone mention welcome bags, so if you did those for all your guests I don't think you'll need to do favors as well.

Favors are completely optional so you don't have to do any if you don't want to. If you do, then I would recommend something edible.

We skipped them, no one noticed.

As others have said, unless they are edible, most get left behind. We've had friends do shot glasses or can openers and things like that, and the only reason they are in my house is because DH drinks... I don't. I would have left them.

We did customized hand sanitizers for our minimony and we will also be doing them for our big wedding March 2021. My stepmom has offered to do customized champagne glasses as well.

We are doing personalized hand sanitizers and masks for people to use during the event, but we also are providing hot cocoa mix with different toppings each in separate little containers as a favor because it will be wintertime - since it is March you could do something early Spring related (whatever that means to you, it could be a good tea or a jam with personalized labels!) good luck!

I agree food/drink favors is the way to go if you want people to take them home - BUT i also feel like a good quality hand soap would be awesome too.
