need opinions please....glow sticks!!

Ok so i have been racking my brain for fun ideas for favors and i dont want to spend money on little boxes, build them, and then have people eat the candy out of them and leave them behind to be thrown away, we dont have a ton of room in our budget and i am not doing a seating chart so fun little place card holders are out. i was thinking would it be stupid to something like personalized glow sticks...the reception dance will be lit by the lights the dj brings, so would that be a good idea or is it just plain stupid...?

You know that you just solved a dilemma I had??!!! My venue doesn't allow any seeds, petals, nothing to throw for the grand exit, nor sparklers that I really wanted. GLOW STICKS!!!! Genius. I love it!

To your question, I don't think it's stupid, but they should be given a purpose, as in being used for the grand exit... Smiley laugh

Well, we bought sparklers and had matchbooks personalized. We put the matchbook on the sparkler and that was the favor. The kids loved it because the dancing was outside so they lit the sparklers. Me on the other hand? Someone wiped their hand on my dress after they lit the sparkler... yeah not cool but I loved the look and the pictures were really cool. Just be sure to keep hands away from your dress! Smiley smile

Debbie, I thought about sparklers but we wont be outside for the reception...though I guess it would be good for a grand exit!

I'm not a big fan of glow sticks but buying those glow "necklaces" would make it a little more entertaining. Just remember that most kinds will only glow for a certain amount of time and then just get thrown away. The glow stick suggestion did remind me of some of the fun dance floor things my brother got at his wedding. He bought big Mexican sombraros to wear during some songs and then blow up 'air guitars' to pass around during other songs, and so forth. I'm pretty sure all those decorations were taken home by one person or another.

I wanted to have glowsticks for our grand exit. Thought they could wave them at us and it would look great for pics/video. My Mom got the bracelets/necklaces that start out as sticks and then you bend them. They were put on in a basket on the gift table for LATER. But kids found them early in the evening and everyone had them during the reception. So there went my idea! BUT everyone had a good time wearing them at the reception, adults too. So I think it would be a great idea.

Oh those are cool! I had no idea you could customize those. They would prob look great at an outdoor reception, but I'm sure you can find a way to use them in yours also. Maybe you can have a special song or two where you dim the lights and make them stand out more!
