Need Opinions on Ceremony Location

Hi Wedding Wire Friends,

I know most of you are aware of our wedding venue. Lol! ❤ I need assistance with our ceremony site. I've posted a map of the property. The bridal suite is in the main house ( so I'll exit from the court yard area of the house).

I'm mobility impaired so the venue's wedding planner suggested we marry at the pergola. You will find it on the map. I refuse to marry at the Santuary as 1: it is too far from the house and 2: it reminds me of those large, historic burial memorials in New Orleans. Ha! Ha! I love the gazebo (gorgeous part of the garden), but am not quite sure where it is located on the map. I think it it the shape on the right on the way to the pergola ( but further towards the pond), but am not sure. I've not been to the venue in awhile. Map is not exactly to scale. Which do you prefer Pergola or Gazabo?

Our wedding is December 22, 2019. But, we are in the Deep South. No snow, hopefully. If we use the Pergola, there will be no, to few, green leaves on it. Love the intertwined twigs. Probably no flowers in the beds. Should I get two "alter" floral arrangements as decoration? I've posted my bouquet so you can see our flowers. Or leave it plain? I don't know what the chairs look like, but should I put aisle decor? I was thinking of having rose petals along the chairs to form an aisle.

Our back-up ceremony site for inclement weather is the Study. Its pictured in gold. The room is appx 18X18. It will be a tight squeeze, but we'll make it. It will already be decorated for Christmas. No rose petals are allowed inside, only floral arrangements. Thanks so much!!

Hmm.. I totally agree with you in not choosing the santuary. I'm leaning towards saying the pergola.. though either would be pretty. it looks like a lovely venue! 💕

The pergola! Even with twigs, I wouldn’t do floral arrangements because the natural landscape is gorgeous! Can you rent or buy a few potted trees/bushes (ie rosemary) as aisle decor or one or two by the altar?

The pergola and yes definitely yes to altar arrangements and aisle decor and even on the end chairs marking each row.
So many seasonal things that you can do in December. Magnolia leaves, nandina, cedar with blue berries, Holly, pine, balsam, soooo many thingsSmiley smile

Really? Awesome!! 🎂🎁 That will make our wedding even more special!! ❤ I think we were only 65°, but I think Sunny and 65° everyone should be able to manage about 30 minutes, right? I hope it's equally beautiful this year. I'll be thinking of you on our big day. Thanks, Katherine.

I do, too, Amanda but they claim it's a popular wedding spot. Obviously people not from the New Orleans area. I think we will go with the Pergola. Thank you.

The pergola and gazebo are both lovely; you can't go wrong with either! I can definitely see why you don't want to get married in front of sanctuary. It looks like a mausoleum. I just know you're going to have a beautiful wedding!

I read somewhere that sometimes garden centers (Armstrong? Home Depot) will rent out their plants/trees. Have no idea the cost or if they handle delivery/pick-up but I would think two big plants/mini trees might cost less than two big floral arrangements? You can always give them away if no room to drive home with them, if you need to buy them. Just an idea.

This little town, to my knowledge, has no big garden centers. Just local nurseries. Our enourmas SUV will be packed. No room for toparies ( love toparies) or anything. It will have my huge gown covered with sheets. Can't crush it after steaming. And we'll have Gaston, my service animal. Full load, plus we are mini-mooning with them. I need things that they'll allow in the house if the outside ceremony is a wash. Literally. Ha! Ha! I'd love to have some shepherds stakes with lanterns, but if it's raining, I've wasted money. Not sure how much these items cost. I appreciate your idea. I'm going to have too decide on something and discuss it with the venue's wedding planner. I'm not even sure what they allow. They have had 100's of weddings. The worst thing is not seeing into the future to know what to expect weatherwise on our big day ( don't we all wish!). Ha! Ha! Thank you!!
