Need Help with Chuppah

sarah, on January 18, 2018 at 4:29 PM Posted in Planning 0 5

I booked my florist since he is the most cost-effective in Sarasota, however, they don't have any Chuppas for rent. I am finding the rentals are around 500 or so to rent. Can anyone suggest a place that may be more economical?

Sorry, can't help with a rental. A simple chuppah is so easy to make, you could consider a DIY.

You need a sturdy base for the four corners- a branch or pot of some sort inserted into a can of cement, or a patio umbrella base.

You then tie on four more branches to form the top of the chuppah. Add draping and florals of your choosing.

There are lots of tutorials on you tube.

I'm getting married up the road in St. Pete Beach. I've checked dozens of wedding rental sites and chuppahs are all $400-450. I think that's what you're going to have to pay to rent, unless you can negotiate it into a bigger rental package.

Our synagogue happened to have a chuppah that someone once donated to be used for future weddings. Some friends who got married out of town just used tall poles and made their own.

If you don't want anything too elaborate, you could consider a home made chuppah . Fabric attached to 4 poles and held by on each corner by special people. The fabric could be (traditional Tallit -prayer shawl) or anything you like. There are some nice ones on Pinterest. You could try etsy as well. The online rentals I found were very expensive.

We looked at rentals for the same reason, and most in our area were 500-1000 dollars. We ended up using poles our synagogue had, and we used a tallis from my husbands family as the top. We wanted something very simple, and this had a lot of sentimental value.
