Need help with a veil and/or blusher!

Catherine Renee, on December 17, 2015 at 9:33 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 12

Hey everyone! So I'm having a hard time trying to decide what kind of veil I want with my dress. At the store that I bought my dress they put this veil on with lace trim (in pics) that didn't come with a blusher. I really had my mind set on a blusher so they put a separate blusher in front but I don't like how you can see where it cuts off in the picture and that it's two veils. I also wanted it to be one piece but now I'm not sure if that's such a good idea either. My hair will be half up/half down like the picture and people are telling me to have the veil start below where my hair is parted. Then I started thinking cathedral because I love how they look in pictures but my MOH stated it would take away from all the sparkles in my train. I'm all over the place - I'm so confused and thought I would ask to see what your inputs were.

Personally, I LOVE blushers. I just think they are so bridal and romantic. My DHs one request (out side of good food and lots of it!) was that I wore a veil with "that front part" because he didn't know what it was called. If you want a long veil you can easily get a light and fairly sheer one and then you should be able to see the sparkles through it, plus you will likely take the veil off pretty soon. I wore a cathedral length veil (that my mom and I made) and I loved it.

@ Reggie - was your cathedral veil and blusher one piece or two separate pieces? Do you have a picture of it together?

I do agree with your MOH, the train of your dress is gorgeous and a long veil might take away from that. Unless you find a sheer cathedral length one? I am have the same issue with my dress. Smiley smile So I had to go with a fingertip veil, although I originally wanted chapel/floor length. I think you can a little bit longer than the veil you have on in the pictures, but not by too much.

I'm no expert, and I think you should do what makes you happiest. This is just what I've heard about blushers, and I am not having one myself. I've heard from people that wore one that if their wedding was outdoors, the wind pressed the blusher up against their face and they didn't find those pictures so flattering. Other said they were sweaty feeling and parts of the blusher again sort of stuck to their face. If you don't think either will occur, then there shouldn't be anything to worry about! Smiley smile

I love you dress and think the lace on the veil compliments it very well. I do see your concern with the cut off. Maybe just getting a different style for the blusher would work? I'm not sure about how to fix that part. Best of luck!

My veil was all one piece. It was lovely and since it was light and sheer it wore very well. It was moderately windy during the ceremony and didn't bother me a bit. Actually, I almost forgot it was there until he reached to lift it. I think a sheer long veil can sometimes actually show the back of a dress better because it doesn't give you that line where a short veil stops. Plus, really you only wear it for the ceremony. People will see your dress all night long. So if you enjoy the long veil then why not?

I don't have a picture right now but I'll try to find one.

My personal preference is a long Catherdral veil. I think a sheer one will allow the details of your dress to shine through. I think its all a matter of personal preference. I have always envisioned a long train and a long veil.

I think a cathedral veil with simple ends would look really nice and not take away from your dress. If the one you are wearing now was a cathedra with the lace ends, I think the design would draw your eyes away from the train.

I think a cathedral veil might take away from your dress. If you do cathedral it needs to be sheer. I wish I had a picture of mine, because I had a cathedral train with a detailed back, and I wore a veil.

Thank you Nena - I'm in love with the dress and this veil dilemma has been going on for a few months. The other problem is that it's hard to try on veils at other places without the dress to see it all together and I don't like the selection the place has where my dress is at.

@Nicole - what you are saying makes a lot of sense but it's hard for me to picture a 'simple' cathedral.

@ Roweira - I wish I could see your cathedral train on your detailed back!

They make 2 tier veils one at the fingertip length and the other at the blusher length. Take a look around etsy they are many great vendors on there for veils! Smiley smile
