Need help! Table Linen Selection

Korrina, on August 6, 2023 at 2:33 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 8

I have been going back and forth with the idea that our reception table is not going to look as beautiful and full as I imagined and would love some insight from you all!

there is no theme, just colors,

shades of blue (mostly royal blue), black, and gold.

it cost extra for better table clothes $20 per table, and we just don't have anymore wiggle room for a change like that sense it feels like it is just coming down to materials, we bought the most expensive package, and honestly for the word "elite", I think I set to high of an expectation of the type of tablecloth it would be.

so I ask, should we stick with the black with our centerpiece, or should we do navy blue?

there are polyester.

I was thinking of adding runners or a second layer but would be extra money as well.

I hope I'm not overthinking this,

thank you for your help, in advance! Smiley smile

Personally, I would do the blue tablecloths. I think the black on black is a bit monotonous, and the blue and white centerpieces look mismatched with it. I think the dark blue tablecloths with white napkins (or vice versa) would look pretty and really brighten the room. Here are a few examples…

Definitely agree with CeCe - the black is dull and just takes away from those beautiful centerpieces and gold chargers. A navy would make everything pop, and adding white would get you that elite or more elegant look you are wanting.

I definitely agree with the previous posters about changing to navy. Table runners could also help but since that is an added cost, I think changing the color will help quite a bit without any added expense.

This is what their navy on white napkins looks like, and the idea was to to do like a moody look and have the blues popping through.Need help! Table Linen Selection 6

Personally, I would not keep the black napkins. I would either use navy or white.

I suggest navy tablecloths with navy napkins. Keep the gold chargers. To make it more full, you could hang candle holders from the top rung of the frame or add tiny twinkle lights at top and on the side, doesn't have to be symmetrical. The mirror should catch the lights. Consider changing out the clear candles for mercury glass in gold, bronze, or amber. If you can add more candles or lighting, you can turn down the main lights for a moodier look. Amazon or Oriental trading company has bulk buys.

My co worker told me a good idea of blue colored candles, but unsure which ones, it will be easier to bring life to the black table clothes at this time because I tried to change to the navy, but it's not doable due to how close it is to the big day, so these candles are the only option left to fix it, which ones do you all recommend

Full disclosure: I'm not a fan of black. It's boring and safe. And otherwise reserved for funerals.

But, it also sounds like you don't have a lot of wiggle room. I say change the napkin to a brighter sky blue- it'll match your centerpiece better. Good luck!
