Need help picking a dress😭😭

Arianna, on May 25, 2020 at 10:15 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 16
Okay so I was supposed to get married June 6th 2020 but do to the pandemic we have decided to postpone until May 15th 2021. Here’s the problem so I bought a dress that I thought I loved and it’s in alterations now, well I was on Pinterest and this one dress came up and I really liked it on the model and looking closer at it I realized I tried that dress on!!! But I remember not liking it because of the price tag ($1,500😖) but now of course it’s on sale $420 and I’m all Need help picking a dress😭😭 1

over the place with it. I know dress regret is real but I don’t know what to do. Attached is the dress that’s in alterations now, and the second one is the dress that I like but didn’t buy. Hope this all makes sense.

That’s a tough one! I really like the intricate detailing on the first dress. It’s absolutely beautiful. But the second dress really looks amazing on your body. They way it cinches your waist is very flattering. I think either way you can’t go wrong! I am refusing to look at other dresses to try to avoid dress regret.

That’s exactly my thinking also😭 it’s such a hard decision. I was doing that exact thing but Pinterest decided that it was going to show me a dress and I was like oh crap I like that😂

Maybe you can add a corset on the first dress? I actually like design of the 1st dress.

Oh I never thought of that. I really like the first dress haha that’s why I bought it the sparkle is everything I want and I even added the straps because I wasn’t so confident in strapless.

I love the first one for the modern take on vintage. I am exactly in your position. I had to rush and pick a dress. Really liked it, but now that we have pushed out the wedding a year, i found one I like better online. 😁

I figured it was cheaper to have some alterations than buy a whole new dress. So I am adding beading, straps, and a few other things. It makes the dress unique and personal to me.

What is it about the other dress you like? Can you alter your current dress to include those features?

I know me too I love the way I was able to poof it’s out and make it more me! I actually went to Ollie’s superstore in Harrisburg when they bought out a bridal store in Florida. I don’t really want go add anything I love the lace and sparkle and I did add the straps but other then that I love it. I think if I could get it to give me more of the hour glass shape I would be 100%

I really think its beautiful as is. If the only thing your longing for is the shape that could be an easy fix.
How many alteration appointments have you had?
The first appointment is really just stress and having no idea what to ask for. The second appointment for me was pure disappointment because I hadn't known how to communicate what I wanted. I have another fitting coming up and I am eager to ask much more questions and let the seamstress educate me and show me what can be done.

I’ve only had the initial appointment in the beginning of February and then I was supposed to get another call and never did and then pick it up the beginning of April but the pandemic struck and couldn’t go. She said I could come for a fitting whenever I would like but I’m not sure if she’s totally finished with the dress or not. I know there’s like a bustier in my dress that’s kind of like a corset but I don’t know if she can take take that out and replace it or what she can do.

If you haven't had a second fitting, I would go and see what she has done. It might need less work than your thinking and you may fall in love with it all over again. I have been shocked at what alterations can do.

That’s what I was thinking to. I mean she already took it on, did a hem and made the bodice shorter so it didn’t crinkle up.

The first one is beautiful! I agree with a PP who said you could try adding a corset to the one you have.
