Need help finding 2014 pennies

Soon2BMrs.Matulay, on January 27, 2014 at 1:36 PM Posted in Planning 0 21

Does anyone know the best way to get my hands on new 2014 pennies? I need them for my wedding favors!

Thanks!

Because you're looking for a specific year, and more specifically this year, you might have to place an order at a bank. They don't always get in new money and might not necessarily have enough on hand even if they do.

Yeah, I've tried two Major banks already and they state that they don't have them yet. I am in Florida and they said Florida is one of the last states to get the newly minted coins. I know in the past you could buy them directly through the US Mint, but it's not looking like i can do that so I was just wondering if anyone else had different suggestions.

    Thanks!

Cute idea. I bet they will start circulating soon, probably already have. If I run across any, I will save them and mail them! I checked all the ones I have.

Could you maybe write or call the US Mint?

I just got off of the phone with the US Mint. They said they haven't sold rolls of pennies since 2010. Therefore, my best luck is the Banks! i am just nervous they will not be out before my wedding. I guess i'll have to find an alternative if i can't find the darn pennies lol

If the pennies don't work, what about Florida quarters. I keep thinking I will throw in some SC quarters to my OOT bags, but haven't actually started to try to collect them.

Go to the bank or mint. No more pennies here in Canada.

I have 220 guests. So putting quarters as party of the favor will get a little more pricey then the $2.50 i had planned on spending. :-)

Yes, one for each guest! If anyone finds them, please let me know. Especially those of you in Northern States. I'll be more then happy to find a way to pay for them and the shipping!

    Thanks!

I work as a bank teller. I don't mean to be a downer, but it's going to be very difficult to find that many 2014 pennies and I think you're setting yourself up for a much bigger project than anticipated.

I have not seen any 2014 pennies yet and I am in Florida. The banks can order extra pennies for you, but we wouldn't be able to get new, much less 2014 pennies only. With coin, we just have to take what we get shipped. In my 2 years of being a teller seeing shipments once a week, I saw shiny new-looking pennies once. We can request new paper currency, but most of the time that request isn't even filled.

Good luck if you decide to pursue this project, but personally, I would forget about it. There are better things you can spend your time on for the wedding.

Okay, not ideal, but I found this website where you can buy rolls of pennies... Unfortunately, it would end up being about $.06 per penny, which would be about $15 plus shipping for 5 rolls, but if you can't find anything else... Also, they're not available yet, but something to keep an eye on.

Thank you @Ariel! this website is awesome. I think i am going to take my chances and pay $20.00 to get what i need. It's only $20.00 i spend more on Starbucks weekly. Thanks!

In case you're still looking, a guy I work with just gave me 3. He went to Vegas last week and he's been keeping an eye out for 2014 pennies since I asked a few months ago Smiley smile If you PM your address, I can mail them to you.
