Need advise on my soon to be husband's wedding shoes!

Jade, on July 22, 2019 at 1:01 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 10

I'm 5'8 and my fiance's 5'5. I want us both to look great on our wedding day! But I'm worried that it wouldn't look that good if I am towering over my fiance. Plus, I want to wear my gorgeous 3inch heels! 😔

Has anybody advised their fiance to wear elevator shoes? Have you heard of elevator shoes? Any brands to recommend?

I searched online and found Jennen Shoes and they have a range of great shoes. Can anyone please advise? Thank you!

But the thing is though if you'll wear heels that high then he would need to wear significantly higher shoes or insoles too in order for the gap to still not be too large.

Yes, exactly. Did you have experience with using elevator shoes or insoles?

I haven't really told him about it yet. I'm still checking if there are others who actually went with using these.

I would talk to him. He may not want them or have other shoes in mind.

I'd first talk to your fiance, if you being taller was a problem he wouldn't be marrying you.
Also... Elevator shoes look a bit silly and can be hard to walk in. Generally you're advised not to try new footwear you're inexperienced with for your wedding. I'm not sure it's a good idea.

I’m taller than my FH. I’m 5’7” and he is 5’4”. His dress shoes have a slight heel to them as many mens dress shoes do and I’m wearing flats. It’s the easiest way to somewhat equalize our height for pictures. I’ve heard of insoles for adding height but I would never ask him to. I’m content with him just the way he is. I don’t want him to get a complex over our height difference. All of our friends and family know he is short. He can’t all of the sudden show up at the wedding as the same height as me. His friends would never let him live it down.

If he isn't bothered by having a tall bride then let it be. Wear your heels, strut your stuff, and let him be amazed that he got himself a goddess. For photos, a lot of angles can be played on to downplay the height difference.

If it really bothers you then maybe look into wearing lower shoes for yourself, rather than making him do something he may not like, to solve a problem he may not even care about.

I’m 5’8 and my FH is 5’2. We entertained the idea of elevator shoes but ultimately decided it’s not for us.

If you want to get them for portraits or something that’s fine but your groom might not be comfortable pretending to be something he’s not for the whole wedding. You love him for who he is, but I completely understand wanting lift for portraits because it makes the photographer’s job easier. My holiday picture photographer wanted my FH to stand on a box, it was completely humiliating.

Why not ask your groom what he wants and ask your photographer for their opinion as well?

I got derby shoes for my wedding from a brand called Shoescoo. They also have good Oxford shoes. I would recommend checking them out.
