Need Advice Indoor/outdoor

Laina, on July 17, 2019 at 1:57 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 6
We are getting married in November and we have a beautiful location booked. We will hold the ceremony and reception there. It’s a pretty Lodge at the local state park. The inside is rustic with fireplaces and a cabin feel, the outside, is a very large concrete patio with railing, overlooking the lake. I cannot for the life of me decide which place to use for ceremony and which to use for reception. So I have been driving myself crazy with this, because I cannot decide which would be better. The outdoor ceremony in front of the lake with the beautiful view and warm cozy reception inside with food/cake indoors? ORRR an indoor ceremony with an outdoor reception by the water? More room for walking around/dancing that way/ but would not have the ceremony scenery that the outdoor provides? Please any opinions are helpful!! I know it is MY day, but I am getting mixed opinions from wedding party, planner, mother, maid of honor, so I thought uninvolved strangers would be my best bet. Lol

Its really yours and your SO's decision. But I would do an outdoor ceremony and an indoor reception!

What state are you getting married in? I would consider the temperature. I would personally opt for the outdoor ceremony, but indoor reception in case of inclement weather since the ceremony is a lot shorter than the reception.

Your wedding sounds just like mine! I would go for the outdoor ceremony and indoor reception, with the indoor space as a plan B in case of weather

I’d always go outdoor ceremony, indoor reception. There’s just so many more things to worry about when planning a meal outside (wind, bugs, weather, warmth) that there’s a lot of advantages to being inside where you can control all of that.

If possible, it’s be awesome to set cocktail tables up on the outside patio so people can wander and mingle out there when they’re not on the dance floor or need some air. Or just cocktail hour on the patio could be nice.

If weather permits, outdoor ceremony and indoor reception. Will it not be cold by November in your state?

Thank you ladies very much for your comments. I think outdoor ceremony and indoor reception is best! We are in Texas so it is usually not cold yet mid November. I was also thinking the same thing you all said, so much easier to move indoors for ceremony if the weather is bad, and some cocktail tables and lights outside to give people an option to mingle out there but would perfect. Thanks again!!!
