Need Advice for wedding cake Flavors

Alexander, on July 22, 2023 at 9:46 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 5

We decided quite a while ago that we were going to get a Cake made up of burfi but we cant decide on the flavors. We know the bottom layer will be pistachio but we can't decide the other two. They want to do Peanut butter and Besan while I want Rose and Mango. Which of these will have the broadest appeal to our guests?

I suppose it first depends on your guest list. These sound like ethnic flavors so some guests might not be ready for some of the options you have listed unless they are adventurous in what they eat -- or are expecting something "exotic." If people are not used to the flavors, it also might help to have a description of the flavor (to something they might be familiar with).

I'm hoping also that my points might help get others to be able to answer your question.

We were originally looking to do chocolate peanut butter as one of our flavors, but our baker advised us against it since peanut allergies are common and tend to be severe.

Do a poll of a small group of people who will actually be attending, such as parents, siblings, best friends. Because these are ethnic flavors that most Westerners who make up the bulk of the community are not familiar with

I agree that it depends on your guests. Since you’re doing multiple flavors, is it possible to do one adventurous layer (if these flavors are considered adventurous to your guests) and one more common layer? Just as an example, I love flower flavors, so I would be intrigued by the rose but I don’t like mango. I also don’t like pistachio. You can’t match every guest’s individual taste, of course, but having one basic and accessible option helps ensure that there’s something for the picky eaters.

But allergies tend to pop up all over the place, even in things that don’t have nuts due to cross contamination. Did your baker not give you the option of doing a separate mini cake or cupcake for guests with food allergies? I’m so sorry you lost your cake flavor!
