Need 2nd course recommendations....Sit down dinner

Jamie, on January 3, 2013 at 1:07 PM Posted in Planning 0 10

We are having a sit down dinner and need a second course option. I originally wanted Shrimp and Grits martini's but they want $10 a head and at 200 guests, well you do the math...

1st - Spinach Salad

2nd - Want something southern

3rd - Filet Mignon with Mahi Mahi

4th - cake

Pass appetizers at cocktail hour are southwest chicken egg roll, meatballs and ham steak and cheese sliders.

How about a soup? I'm not sure what you're looking for here, but a butternut squash soup or something would be nice!

How about chicken and waffles? (but a little more elegantly done)

If you're doing doing a cocktail hour, why don't you cut out the second course? Maybe add a couple things to cocktail hour instead. No one needs to eat everything at cocktail hour and then four courses.

@celia that is what my mom said but we just wanted cocktail hour to be more of a hold you over till dinner. But...do you all think that we are looking cheap if we don't have a second course.

@rayy a great She Crab soup would be nice too and southern.

Ooohhhh she crab soup sounds amazing! I think a light course like that would be great! But to answer your other question, you definitely won't look cheap not having a second course. I never in a million years would notice/count/care!

No, I don't think you're looking cheap at all. After a big cocktail hour (which everyone loves) three courses is totally fine.
