Near Thanksgiving wedding date

Patricia , on May 14, 2018 at 11:12 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 10
We are getting married 11-24-18 and I am wanting to send save the dates because our date is so close to Thanksgiving (2 days after to be exact) but a few close friends have suggested not sending. Thoughts, suggestions, feedback? And yes we do have guests in other cities and states.

I would send them! If I was invited to a wedding the weekend of Thanksgiving I would definitely want to have a heads up so that I could plan accordingly.

What was the reasoning you friends gave you for not sending them?

I think sending Save the Dates ASAP is a good idea. We are sending ours 6+ months in advance, since it's a summer wedding and quite a few guests will have to travel.

I would send the STD ASAP. Give them a heads up.

You definitely need to send save the dates, like yesterday. Thanksgiving is a very busy and expensive weekend to travel, people need extra notice if they're going to make the trip. I would've sent them months ago, tbh.

Send them, ASAP. That's an expensive time to travel and the guests who do travel in for the wedding will need extra time to try to make travel arrangements. Don't be upset if most OOT guests decline.

I would for sure send them, given the holiday! They should go out ASAP.

Since I am close to the 6 month mark until my wedding, it was suggested to not send them. I was wanting to send them but wanted to ask the “real” wedding experts rather than just listening to others.

Definitely send them. People start talking about Thanksgiving plans very early and this needs to be considered when it comes to deciding on location of people's Thanksgiving meals as people often travel.

I’d send them. That gives people time to make different thanksgiving plans or decide if they will be able to make it. If they have more time to figure that out I think you’ll have a better turnout.

We are getting married the weekend after Thanksgiving (12-1-18) and have already sent out save the dates. People kept asking when the wedding was and wanting to make arrangements to be home two weeks in a row so we sent them well in advance. I haven't had any issues with it so far. We only sent them to the guests we were 100% inviting to the wedding. We had a few people we were unsure of so we just haven't sent theirs yet.
