Hey ladies Are you guys planning on keeping your middle name or taking your maiden name as your middle? I was thinking about keeping my middle name and maiden name and taking on my new last name. Therefore, I would have 4 names? What are your opinons?

Keeping my middle name, it's my dads first name (only spelled the girly way) and I'd like to hang on to that Smiley smile

I am changing my last name. I don't see any reason for me to try to hold on to it.

I will probably keep my maiden as a second middle name because it's how I'm known professionally and on my degrees, etc. So I'll be First Middle Maiden Married.

I'm not a huge fan of my FH's last name but oh well! I am a traditionalist at heart.

It's totally up to you, of course-- four names has almost a 'royalty' ring to it. I like my middle name a lot, so I just ditched my maiden name.

Keepin my middle, it was my grandmothers name and since she's passed and we were close its kind of like having a part of her living on Smiley smile

Hmm, I don't have a middle name...so I debated making my maiden as my middle, but it's not a very "good" middle name if that makes any sense either. I'll probably decide the day of Smiley smile

I'm not changing my name at all. I like my last name too much for it. It's long and people have a hard time pronouncing it, but it's mine. One of my BMs is married though and took her husband's name and made her maiden name a middle name. She used to have 3 middle names, and normally went by the first middle name, so I think she hyphenated her first name and first middle name and dropped the other two to make room for her maiden name! Craziness.

I will be taking FH's last name. My current last name is so common that I have no desire to keep it. My father also has a son that can continue the name tradition. To me, it was just a no-brainer to switch. Also, my FH would have flipped out on me if I told him I was keeping my last name. He is very much a traditionalist.

I hadn't thought about this. I don't think my mother ever officially changed her name when she got married (she doesn't remember). However, I already have 2 first names and a middle name. I don't really like my middle but my mom has the same one. Well, it's another thing I'll have to think about.

I don't really have an answer, but do have a similar question. I already have two middle names. All my degrees are using my last name. Every email and username has been created using my four initials though, and changing all that too seems impossible. I'm now five months past my marriage and still haven't come to a decision. I'm thinking I'll officially replace my middle names with my maiden, for the sake of my degrees and professional certifications, but colloquially keep my middle names. Still unsure, but heading to social security office next week. Advice welcome please!
