Mystic(spray tan) 4 days before wedding?

Alexis, on August 29, 2015 at 3:15 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 9

Just wondering if anyone has had a mystic tan done. I guess its the booth spray tan where a machine sprays you. My salon is offering a free week of tanning the week before your wedding, which includes a free spray tan! But since we are heading to NY Thursday morning for the Saturday wedding, I could only use it Wednesday and Im just worried if I will look blotchy or orange. I'm already pretty tan from going tanning so this would just be an added thing to try. I plan to exfoliate and stuff prior. Anyone successful with spray tans before event?

I did mystic tanning when I was a MOH in my best friend's wedding. I had to go a few times to get a deep enough shade, I am pale and very fair skinned so we went with very, very light applications each time. I think I had 3 days between my last spray and her wedding and I did notice some blotchy-ness due to it washing off on my back and arms.

Im doing mine Thursday and getting married sat. Day 1 you look the darkest/ orange if you will. Then day 2 in my opinion is best. Shower before you go don't put on any lotion. Then don't shower that day o it can set in. Then shower the next morning and it will look great. Gets off some of the blotchy spots.

If you have never done it before, I would suggest having them personally spray you or paying very close attention to their instructions! I've only done it once and they emphasized putting lotion on your hands and feet...thinking why would that matter, I didn't really lotion up as much as I should have. I attended a wedding with stained brown/orange hands and feet! it last for four days!

I've done mystic many times. If you haven't done it before, it's probably not a good idea to start now. As other posters have mentioned, you have to be careful with applying the lotions and the first time you do it, you may not get it right and your palms may look funny.

If you decide to do it anyway, get a good loofah/scrubber and the stains will go away more quickly.

    Have a beautiful wedding.

I love mystic tans! The first time I was a little confused with the directions on how to turn, but I love it! It is very even and it looks very natural!

I personally had a bad experience. My skin looked blotchy and orange... Even days after, and it took forever to come off. I plan on tanning a few months before my wedding. Maybe you'll have a better experience.

I like Mystic tans (I'm very pale but get a nice color from them) BUT: You really have to know what you're doing: How to prep before, how to apply the barrier cream, how to stand in the poses, how to "dry off".... It's more complicated than just standing in a booth! Definitely go for a trial run and maybe go with a friend who's done it before or have the girl at the salon help you. You don't wanna look streaky AF at your wedding! Good luck!

In my opinion four days is too far in advance if you don't have a lot of experience with it. By day four the tan may be fading already (and it doesn't always fade evenly!).

I got a spray tan two days before my wedding, and it looked perfect on my wedding day. However, I paid a little extra to have someone airbrush spray me rather than do a booth spray tan. The booth seemed too risky for such a big day (especially since I hadn't tried it before).

Edited to say: I just noticed your wedding was last weekend. I hope your spray tan turned out perfectly.
