My wedding dress is green. Anyone have ideas for a color palette?

Elizabeth, on April 28, 2019 at 5:53 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 23
I'm struggling a bit to come up with a good set of "wedding colors" because my dress is dark green.

Originally I was thinking the colors should be green and blue, because my engagement ring has emeralds (his birth stone) and aquamarine (my birthstone).

If anyone has ideas I'm open to suggestions! Thanks.

That’s so fun! I think I would do gold/silver and lighter neutrals.

Do you have picture of the dress or color swatch fabric for your dress? What season is your wedding?

I would suggest grays (light), dusty blue if would go try to incorporate blue. Any neutral color. If you like metallic, gold or silver would work as well. I just did a quick Pinterest search. I know your dress will be green but you can see what others did for a dark green palette.

Olive/green goes with tans, golds, dusty blues, ir deep blues. I think those are the best schemes.

Hey date twin!!! A green dress I bet will be so beautiful! Is it the one in your profile pic?? That'll be so pretty in the fall.

I second the gold or silver idea, that would be pretty
Also, a wayyyy out there (but I think possibly gorgeous thought), since you're going non-traditional with a green dress, maybe (if you're not superstitious about it) You could have your girls wear white with all green accents (shoes, shawls, fern bouquets, etc)

Definitely whatever you choose, I think lighter colors on your party would look best, so that you stand out

My vote is for Emerald green and Gold. I think its a very rich color scheme for a fall wedding. Especially with fabrics like velvet for table runners.

Look up dark green and maroon on google. I love that combo with some gold and maybe white accents.

I think it would look nice to use ivory and gold. You could put your girls in ivory to make yourself stand out!

    Thank you for your response!

I made my dress my profile pic, if that helps! I didn't see any way to upload an image to the message board unless I'm missing something.

Thank you! It looks like many others went to Pinterest and gave some ideas. BTW the dress is beautiful.

To upload a picture there should be an icon of mountain with a sun picture (at least on the mobile). If I’m not mistake it’s the same on the web. I rarely get on the web so I can’t remember.

My vote for colors is a metallic color or gray.

Is there a way for you to try your dress on again and have a few dress colors standing next to you to pick your colors?

I like this idea! We are definitely bucking tradition quite a bit with this wedding. I originally thought grays and light blues for the maids dresses, but cream colored might be lovely too! I was a little worried about there being too many colors so having my dress stand out that way might be nice!

    Thank you!

I like the idea of metallics! Generally not a huge gold fan, but I like tarnished silver looks and silvers in general. I've had my dress for like over a year so I can (and do) try it on whenever I want!

Oh that’s awesome! I would recommend if it is possible to get a few of your ladies to go dress shopping and pair colors with you in your dress. Or order some fabric swatches and overlay them with your dress so you can get the complete look. I confirmed my second color by buying color ribbon and overlaying it over the fabric. It was perfect.

I definitely like gold but seeing your dress I was drawn to gray or silver. I think the silver would be very unique since most of the metallic looks are gold.

No no matter what color(s) you choose, it will be perfect!
