My wedding dress from prior engagement

Kimpossible, on April 17, 2020 at 11:59 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 36
I was engaged in 2016 and brought a 5000 dress but I never could be comfortable to buy it for the person I was marrying. I called off the wedding and still kept this dress. Now I'm engaged again in 2020 and I figured I'll wear the dress because I knew the dress wasn't for that person. I have other people telling me that I should not because It brings bad luck .my question is what would you do.

I wouldn’t wear a dress that I intended to marry someone else in, but that’s a personal decision.

It's up to you! I am not superstitious and don't believe the dress itself carries any bad karma from your previous relationship...it's just a dress.

However, if you think it will remind you of old memories or trauma, I would go ahead and purchase another dress.

And of course, if you just don't like it anymore or it doesn't fit you or your wedding vision- get something new!

If I liked the dress I would wear it. It's not like you ever got to walk down the aisle in it or get photos taken in it.

Thanks I appreciate it. I feel like the dress is not connected to my last engagement at all . It was the dress that helped me figure out he wasn't the one . But think the dress is for my current fh

Well thanks .This dress was so hard for me to find due to me being heavy breasted I wanted support but not have to wear a bra. So I got it . It seemed like just because I wasn't getting married any more I still needed this dress.

I am in the exact same boat! I was engaged in 2016 and bought a dress that I loved but realized the person wasn’t right for me. I am now engaged again and I am planning on wearing the dress I bought in 2016. Like you said, the dress does not make me think of that last relationship at all. You love the dress.. wear the dress and save a few thousand dollars in the process Smiley smile

Yea I would wear it. You didn’t go through with wearing it to a wedding in a previous engagement. But I’m not superstitious either. I would see it as saving the dress for when you really marry the one that’s meant for you.

I was engaged in 2007 bought a dress and still have it (storage closet at moms) and I won’t be wearing it. I have literally every thing from that wedding still but with me getting married 09/12/20 I bought all new. I seen my old dress then and thought lord what did I buy ! Wrong dress and wrong guy. And now I have the perfect dress and man ❤️ It is a money saver if you keep the dress and use it if you still love it and have the bridal feeling as you did before if not I’d get another !!

I was in the same boat. I ended up getting a different dress. I couldn't bring myself to have anything to do with my ex as part of my special day. But everyone is different
