My vistaprint order, the good, bad, and ugly.

My first big order of things from vistaprint arrive today, right. Some stuff looks great, other stuff I was less then impressed with. The Good- the invites and rsvp's look great. The Good- the invites and rsvp's look great. I got a free tote (okay, it raised the shipping cost by $1) and i absolutely LOVE it. I also did some other free things like car doors magnets, a pen, a key chain, and a bumper sticker and they all look good to me.

The Bad- Our STD cards came out with crooked borders on all of them, it's not huge but slightly annoying. Also the color didn't come out quite right. I know they are glossy and not matte like the other cards- but you can see little dots in the yellow that you can't see in the other ones. they aren't perfect- but they are good enough for me.

The ugly- My magnets. they came out horribly crooked, one side practically has no border, and you can see the little dots around all the words. I know the file size, etc is right because I used their template. Might complain and see if they will re-do them.

    Update on the bad magnets-

I e-mailed them before class and when I got home they said they would re-do them and expedite them to me for free. We are going to take off the black border.

So though they weren't perfect the first time, i must say i am happy with they way they are handling the problem.

@Nicole- I noticed on my STD postcards that are glossy that the color is a little different from the invites (which are on the linen paper). the postcards are slightly yellower then white. But the invited i did look great. So I understand that you decided to DIY your invites, but if you need something from them in the future, the linen and matte papers are much truer to color in my opinion.

I ordered all of my items - STD, Thank You's, Invites, and response cards, the only issue I had with them was sending 9 as opposed to 10 and send 9 envelopes and 1 white, However each problem they fixed it right away offered replacements gave me credit, etc, etc..... I appreciated it because thats what business is should be, some companies would duck and dodge that responsibility and say Oh it was an outside printer..... I post my picks soon.... for comments

@shaton- i agree completely. I like them because any problems I have ever had they have helped me, re-done it for free, and have never made excuses. There was even something that wasn't their fault (I had made the invite and was printing a test print and the color didn't come out how i wanted it) and they offered to let me re-do it. Even though it was MY fault the color didn't come out right.

No-they aren't perfect every time, which if you are in a time crunch could be a problem- but they have always remedied any problems i have had quickly and nicely.

It's hard to tell form the pics, but I guess we have to expect some things will come out wonky with free stuff, ya know? I agree, I'd call and I bet they'll re-do them. I got my STD's in the mail yesterday from Vistaprint & they look great. Guess I got lucky!

Hope they fix them for you Smiley smile

Could someone please point me to the timeline you are using when you decided to order your stationery a year ahead of the event?? I would really like to know why so many brides are ordering printing too soon. Can anyone explain this phenomenon?? Typically it is best to wait until about 6 months before your wedding to start shopping for stationery, unless its Save the Dates. (A lot of details can change in a year, even if that's not part of YOUR plan).

I do love the wording on the Save the Dates, that is very cute!

I ordered this early because i got a deal off living social for $50 gift cards for $10. and I must use them by Aug 25th. I've since heard that those deals are offered every couple months, but i didn't know that at the time, and just jumped on a the deal while i knew it was going on.

Otherwise i would agree with you, there isn't much point in ordering this early- and it would probably be better to wait just in case something happened. But in my case a good deal was a good deal and so I went for it.

I used the same deal, splitting my order to take advantage of some coupons. My entire invite package came out to $0.35 a person - even when I line and decorate the envelopes (we went with plain white), postage is going to cost more per invite.

I'm glad they were able to straighten your order out. Everything else looks great!

I am glad you are happy with the customer service. I think you invites look lovely.

I have ordered a great deal from vistaprint. I had no issues with anything I had printed on paper: business cards, welcome bag cards and post cards(which are going into the bag). I was also pleased with my magnets, tote bag, pen, rubber stamper, card magnet, banners, pens, tshirts and mouse pads.

Would I use them for my daughter's invitations? I don't know. She is pretty picky when it comes to stationary. I would def use them for her STD magnets though.

They look beautiful. But call them and tell them you are a unhappy bride.

I just ordered my invitations about an hour ago! haha i was procrastinating a bit on that, I'm anxious to see how they will turn out..I'm sure it'll be fine tho. I refuse to pay hundreds of dollars for paper..I'd rather put it to more important things..I did spring for the fancy blue envelopes tho! :-)
