My venue is permanently closing!

Elizabeth, on September 10, 2019 at 10:13 PM Posted in Planning 0 8

How do you pick a new venue when the one you thought was perfect is gone?
I have had a crazy month, lost my job, started a new one, found out my 3yr old dog has cataracts and now my venue is permanently closing next month! (I will be getting a refund tho). I am so lost on what to do! I was so in love with my venue and now it's gone...
Any advice would be so appreciated.

Unfortunately my only advice is to start your search over again.. I'm very sorry, this is a huge bummer and stresser.

I had my heart set on a perfect and sentimental venue that ghosted me, idk why. So I sadly started the search all over but found one even better.

Well my reception venue burned down 6 months before my wedding!! It was a little over an hour from where we live so we took that as a sign to make the wedding closer. I started the search over and found a wonderful venue about 2 weeks after the original venue burned down! Stay positive!

Oh my gosh that must've been so stressful! I'm glad it worked out in the end! I'm sure it will for me too. It was just a shock because they told me via email.

Girl they made a FACEBOOK POST that was nondescript. Just said “we’ll be getting a lot of emails and calls within the next few weeks and please be patient”. That was it. I had to comment and had strangers tell me what happened and then found out from the news! It took me a few weeks to get all my money back. It’ll definitely work out in the end for you too!

Thank you! It definitely helps to hear other people's stories of similar issues.

That sounds very frustrating and I'm so sorry you have to add an extra thing to your busy schedule! Do you have a wedding planner/coordinator? They should be able to help you find a local venue in your price range.

15 years ago my brother’s venue closed and the owner ran off with the money two weeks before the wedding. My bro and sil lived in Ca (we’re in NJ). My mom and I had to run and find a new place and redo everything in two weeks. My sil was new to the US and had no idea what was involved in a Western wedding so she wasn’t as stressed. The new venues were like that stinks about your place but they wanted to get payed too. We wound up at a country club that amazingly had an opening on Sept 28 and it all turned out gorgeous. It wasn’t the grand ballroom it originally was planned for but it all worked out and they’re happy together now.

It will work out. You have some time and glad you’re getting your deposit back. It stinks you had that checked off your to do list but I bet there’s something out there better that you didn’t see on your first go around!
