My Venue is Closed Until Further Notice

Light, on March 15, 2020 at 7:51 AM Posted in Planning 0 9

I just got alerted to my venue is closed until cases start to slow down. I'm not sure what to do or if I should go ahead and contact my vendors or not. I'm getting married on May 3, but it looks like our wedding just got called before we could even sit down and talk about it.

Oh no I'm sorry to hear that! Did your venue say for how long it would be closed? Theres still some time before May.. maybe it'll be ok by then?

If the infections calm down then they will open back up. Right now though, we don't think we are going to see it happen until mid-may.

    Hey lady,

Yesterday we found out that my fiance cannot even leave a 50 mile radius due to the DOD travel ban. So I won't have a groom at our destination wedding. After my rather intense breakdown yesterday, I called all vendors and got them on board to work towards a new date. We agreed that we would wait until April 1st to either cancel the April 23rd wedding and find a new date OR If this calms down in a few weeks, we go ahead with our original date. It is an arbitrary timeline but we have no other option. Many vendors are begging gracious during this time due to the circumstances. I personally would contact them just to put your mind at ease. I am still fuming no doubt, but contacting them and knowing that I could switch days if needed helped.

My fiance got out a few years ago, but his best man was still in. I just feel like it's so hard to plan a wedding just to be hit with all of this. I'm glad your vendors are being so helpful. I'm heartbroken to know so many families are being affected by the ban on travel.

Yes, it is pretty ridiculous. I am glad people are willing to work with us but I also pray all these bans don't kill their businesses. It is heartbreaking.

My wedding is 4/25, and thought my venue hasn’t cancelled our event yet, I’ve started communications w all my vendors and I’m creating back up plans. Since you don’t know if your venue will be opened again in time for your wedding, Id suggest working on backup plans and yeah that means reaching out to vendors. Good luck!!
