my sister is a bridezilla...

So my sister gets married in August, and I've been trying to help her plan some of the things that are "needs" at weddings (flowers, cake, decor, etc) and when I show her things that I think are pretty, or would be good, she just turns her lip and says their f'ing hideous...I don't know how much...

So my sister gets married in August, and I've been trying to help her plan some of the things that are "needs" at weddings (flowers, cake, decor, etc) and when I show her things that I think are pretty, or would be good, she just turns her lip and says their f'ing hideous...I don't know how much longer I can take it from her...I'm her MOH and I'm trying my hardest to keep my cool but when she says something is f'ing hideous and I've been looking at them for my wedding, it kind of hurts my feelings...I feel like all I'm good for with her is to buy things that she needs for the wedding and last I thought it's not my job to fund her wedding...*sigh* T.T

What should I do about her? should I just tell her like it is and risk being kicked out of the wedding with a little more than a month to go or just hang in there and then cut ties after the wedding?

    Your sister's not a bridezilla.

    She's just a 'zilla.

At the risk of sounding callous, she is on her own. Wear your dress, show up, and that is it. You should not have to endure any verbal abuse. If she is going to be upset with you for not helping, then so be it. You can't win so why put in the effort?

I know that is easier said then done, but that is my initial thoughts.

Is she your sister, or friend? I'm confused.

Either way. Why are you buying things? And why is she just now picking fabric for bridesmaid dresses when the wedding is next month? And cake and flowers? This whole situation is confusing to me.

Stop spending money on her wedding and stop talking about her wedding. Let her plan it, she obviously doesn't appreciate the help, so stop giving it. If she asks about it, just tell her why. If you're close enough to be her MOH, you should be close enough to have that conversation without destroying the friendship. On the other hand, if she kicks you out of the BP, then take that as a gesture that the friendship is over, because kicking someone from the bp is exactly that.

To be devil's advocate, I don't like it when people make constant suggestions about what I should do for my wedding. Let me pick out my own flowers. But she definitely should have been more gracious when declining your help. This seems like a sore subject for both of you. Let her get on with the planning by herself; don't even talk about wedding planning, and change the topic if it gets brought up. Good luck!

Stop offering suggestions and definitely stop paying for stuff for her!!!! If she can't afford something, then she can do without it or she can get a job and buy it herself. Are you the only member of the bridal party or does she do this to the others, too? And if she does this to other people, has no one ever stood up to her and told her no? When she asks you to buy her something, remember this: No is a complete sentence.

FallBride: I am not suggesting she does what I want to do for my wedding, she didn't know what she wanted to do for some things (like boquets other than hers) and I showed her what kissing balls were, said they were F*cking hideous, didn't know what to do for her hair so I scoured the internet and tagged her in a few that I thought would look good in her hair, f*cking hideous, then she asked me to buy a couple fabric swatches off a site so that we can see if they are the colors she wants, no big deal it was like 5 bucks, but then she wants me to buy the fabric for all the bridesmaids dresses and just have everyone pay me back...told her no and she asked "why not" and got snotty...

Cutting ties would be because this has been going on for more than just the wedding planning process, I understand that wedding planning is stressful and can cause people to act crazy and be B*tchy but I've never seen someone act the way she does ALL THE TIME...this is why I'm contemplating cutting ties from her after the wedding, because even if I go over there just to spend time with her and the kids she asks if I can bring her things that she knows I can't afford for myself let alone for her.

Chrises: She is my foster sister, I ended up living with her for a few years when we were children and we have been best friends/sisters since then...She is just now picking fabric for the dresses because she got the swatch from her wedding dress in and she wanted the colors to match, we are making the bridesmaids dresses so we needed to know exactly what color her dress accent is so that we can match it.

Knowing she is the way she is, you have the power to stop most if not all the snotty and bitchiness.

Don't offer up ideas for her wedding, let her figure it out.

Don't ask her opinion on ideas for your own.

And if she asks you to buy anything...."sorry, I'm broke right now".

Don't cut ties, just draw firm boundaries. Say no and mean it. With boundaries in place you'll feel like it's more easy to deal with her day to day. Definitely stop trying to help her. Get the dress and show up. For anything else say "that's not going to be possible".

You seem incredibly kind and supportive which is more than she should expect when you have your own wedding to plan. I would just take a step back, stop making suggestions and stop buying things for her. If she comes to you later and asks why you're not 'helping' anymore that's your opportunity to tell her that you feel like she rejects all your suggestions and that she's hurt your feelings. If she wants your help, tell her you'll be happy to help but that she'll need to change her attitude. I'm sorry you're going through this :-(
