My reception venue won't return my emails....

T&J, on July 23, 2010 at 10:20 AM Posted in Planning 0 15

Well i have 2-3 weeks before i send out my invitations and my reception venue won't get back to to me. The wedding coordinator emailed me on June 15th saying, Hello, i'm new...can't wait to work with you...let's set up a meeting in August to go over all of your details". Well i emailed her back 10 minutes after she sent the email and told her 2 dates i CAN'T meet and told her to get back to me. I waited till June 30th and fowarded my reply and said "just making sure you received my email, get back to me". Well it's now July 23rd, and i just sent her another email because it's been over a month. Granted i know it's wedding season, but seriously it takes 2 minutes to set up an appointment.

Is it just me or is this irresponsible professionalism?

If i don't hear back from her, should I contact a supervisor or owner of the company?

I'd say Spam probably as a lot to do with it. Because sometimes it scans the entirity of the email and if it finds any kind of flag word on its list no mater what the rest says, it sends it to Spam. For instance, when I worked at a Law firm, we were sending information on a Dick Matthews to an attorney & it got rejected 16 times because of his first name.. it can pick up anything stupid like that and reject it to Spam.

    .

Also, with it being a busy season, maybe call & leave a voicemail if she doesn't answer and just give a friendly reminder that you're waiting to set up the appointment to meet in August.

Yes, she is being unprofessional by not responding to you, but email could have been sent to SPAM and not the in box. But, I say this with love, respect and sisterhood, why have you not taken action sooner? First rule, is never expect these venue coordinators to get back to you especially during high season. They have lots of clients, so you have to be proactive and take charge. You are now down to the wire, so get on the phone and make sure you speak to someone, don't settle for leaving a voice mail. Keep us posted on how it goes.

Yeah, I would definitely call - leave messages, try a receptionist, etc. If you get no response after a couple of days, I would definitely go to a supervisor. I don't blame you for wanting some definite answers prior to sending your invitations... It doesn't sound like you have a lot of faith in them.

Amendment to my previous post. When you go there for your meeting, raise a little hell and put them in their place. That is just bad business and frankly unacceptable.

I am more of a pop up kinda girl...if calling an emailing aren't working I wouldn't hesitate to stop by and catch her while she's at work.
