My Kleinfeld experience

So, my mom and I got to Kleinfeld's at 8am today for their 3pm blow-out sale. We were pumped. I had pictures of styles I liked. I had a mental list of the things I was looking for. So, my mom and I got to Kleinfeld's at 8am today for their 3pm blow-out sale. We were pumped. I had pictures of styles I liked. I had a mental list of the things I was looking for. At 11am, they handed out numbers and told us to come back at 2. I was number 11...I knew that if my dress was in there, I would find it. We came back at 1:45 and were let into the store at 2:45...we were in the first group. My consultant asked me what I was looking for, so I started to tell her I had pictures of examples and she told me she didn't want to see them...so I told her "A-line, some lace, sweetheart neckline, defined waist" and she told me to start looking. There were 4 rows of dresses (there were about 400 dresses out there). I started on the rack that was at the top of my price range...nothing there. So I went to the cheaper rack...nothing there, either. I asked the consultant if she'd found anything, and she said no...I probably wouldn't get what I wanted for my price. Continued...

Rosie that dress is beautiful! Is this kind of what you were looking for or is this you settling for the style and dress?

This one dress I saw that I want to get was 1809 but the boutique I went to didnt include alterations but I have seen it cheaper online. (1789, 800 for used)

I have a picture of it, Front and back, on my IB if you want to see it. It's Colombia(Columbia) by blue by enzoani.

@Bri-guy's Gal: I've looked around online a lot for inspiration, but knowing myself and how picky I've apparently become when it comes to dresses, I know I'd never be able to buy one without trying it on and knowing it's perfect.

@Krystal: The dress on your IB is gorgeous! A lot of their dresses are beautiful. Haven't found a salon that carries them for me to try them on though.

@Christine: Thank you! That picture is almost exactly what I'm looking for...I just wish it had a more defined sweetheart neckline (that's more modified sweetheart) and some kind of strap. If I don't find a dress that knocks me off my feet, this is definitely what I'll end up getting.

I already know my experience will suck no matter where I go. I am just NOT the bride who will be paying thousands of dollars on something I will only wear once. It's not even about being cheap, it's about what's worth it to me & what's not. Now spending thousands on a fabulous honeymoon, well that's where my money is going! and those memories will last longer.

I never believe what I see on TV anyhow. It's all for show.

Have you checked out the Robert Bullock collection? http://www.robertbullockbridal.com. He has some GORGEOUS dresses (including my dream dress!) with lots of really pretty lace. I think the prices are in your range. This is the dress I am dying to try on:

Also wanted to mention, the flagship salon is in Manhattan and I have seen nothing but good reviews for it.

Even though you don't like DB, I would try a different location. I had a good experience and probably would have never thought about trying on the dress I chose had the consultant not brought it out to me.

They carry some lace dresses. I'm not sure if they is a store close by where you live but it might be worth a shot.

Also, the things you want, might be modifiable from the Maggie. If you don't find a definite other dress, go back to that one and ask the salon if they can modify it to what you want. And have you looked a the full Maggie line? She has many with lace, straps and sweethearts.

Dont give up yet, and dont settle. I had the same experience. I knew exactly what I wanted rom the beginning and couldnt find it anywhere. I tried in like 4 cities. I was to the point that I thought that finding "the one" and crying was a lie. One day I decided it was time to try again and my MOH and I went into this little boutique without an appt to look around, didnt find anything and as we were walking out the door the lady that was helping us said "WAIT! this is the one I was looking for!, and sure enough, there was my dream dress! I tried it on.. and cried Smiley smile all for $596.00 Smiley smile

Have you thought about having it made by a designer. Thats what I am doing! I just couldn't find the right dress and didn't want to add alot of expense for alternations to a designer gown and still not have exactly what I want.

My designer is making my gown for me and my veil. Im having a hug lace ball gown with a long train and a lace veil. Its costing $1800, which includes all alterations.
