My jeweler lost my ring!!

Whitney , on June 27, 2017 at 5:04 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 58

I am beyond upset and frustrated!!!! I dropped my ring off to a local jeweler upon return from my honeymoon to get 2 stones replaced (that's another story for another day sigh...) anywho he told me to come back in a week and it should be ready. A week goes by and my hubby goes to pick it up and the jeweler CAN'T FIND IT! He tells him that he's (the jeweler) is going out of town and to give him until Monday...ok....monday comes and he hasn't had time to look...o...k.....today I called and yet again he tells me he can't find it but to "not give up on him" I'm really trying to keep a level head but I'm so upset!!! Why me ='( what should I do know?? Any advice?

Wow. That is horrendous. Was the ring purchased from him? Is it an heirloom or something replaceable?

Oh HELL NO. Sounds like he may not have lost it...

You're totally allowed to lose it now. Go crazy on them.

No it was purchased from a chain jeweler but to avoid having to send it off I wanted to use someone who does everything in house....technically it is replaceable but it's still sentimental, you know?

Give him until the end of the week to cough it up (and I'm being generous). All correspondence needs to be done in writing.

Wow that's like nightmare material! So sorry that they're having trouble finding it, hopefully it will turn up soon. On the one hand at least it's not a family heirloom or something, but at the same time I was really bummed when I tore the tunic I was wearing when FH proposed so I totally get what you mean about its sentimental value.

Did they give you any kind of receipt showing you dropped off a ring of $___ value with them? My jeweler always provides a receipt with an appraised value and should anything happen to the ring while in their possession, they would replace it with a ring of that value.

I would FLIP out! So sorry you're having to deal with this OP! Agree with PP, if you have a receipt, hold onto it with your life! Go to the store in the morning and demand your ring or an insurance claim filed. This is ridiculous!

We are going tomorrow and something is going to have to be settled. I've been married almost 3 weeks and I've been wearing a $10 ring hubby ran out and got me so that I would feel a little better haha. I thought the stress would be over know

Oh wow! Yeah, I would have lost it. Even if the ring can be replaced I know I have a sentimental attachment to my actual ring. I'm so so sorry! Crossing my fingers and praying he finds it.

I'm so sorry Whitney!! This is my biggest nightmare worry as we're dropping mine off next month to have the stone replaced.

I'm with PP, By COB tomorrow something needs to be done. Jeweler needs to be held responsible for it.

Look for anything in a contract if you have one and threaten to sue. That's a no deal situation.

I would lose my shit! You totally have the right to go off on him. That is absolutely ridiculous!!! I don't think he "lost" it.
