My fellow Spring and Summer Brides...

Chloe, on April 4, 2020 at 8:34 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 3
In February I thought I was good to go. We had a contract with a new venue (First one fell through), and we had almost all decisions, budget, and planning in motion. My fiance and I are pretty laid back so I foolishly thought "This is easier than I thought." Then March rolled in. And all of a sudden I have two cake bakers fall through, my wedding dress go MIA, and now the Coronavirus hangs over my head with the threat to postpone our July wedding.
We have waited for this day for years, and the worst part of the whole postpone debate, is my dads health. A few months ago we talked about how he wouldn't be able to dance with me for my wedding. We were trying to make the aisle as short as possible so he could walk me. Now I cannot possibly risk exposing him to the virus, but then I worry if his health will hold out to the rescheduled date...My fellow Spring and Summer Brides... 1

I am trying to stay positive. All the changes I've had to make have come out better so far. Better venue, new dress I love, and cake included with catering so saving money. I'm praying for a miracle, hoping for the best, and continuing with my planning to keep me creative and happy. I made my first centerpiece today. I included a pic cuz I'm kinda proud of it. If we have to postpone we will still need it right? Please keep your heads up Ladies!! Hopefully this will all workout for the better!

    Hi Chloe,

Great work on that centerpiece!!! Smiley flower I'm so sorry that you're going through this mess while you're planning your wedding. For most of us, COVID-19 was a completely unforeseeable situation back in Jan/Feb. It sounds like you've been rolling with the changes like a pro. I commend you for keeping such a positive attitude about everything. Smiley heart

If quarantine lasts longer than you expect, you may have to postpone your big wedding reception. However, couples are doing MANY different things when it comes to celebrating the original date. Here are a couple of relevant discussions if you get to that point in a month or two:

    - Ideas in Place of a Reception

    - Ceremony now, party later

Also, you may have already seen this section of the website, but WeddingWire has created resources to help you navigate the planning process: Our COVID-19 Weddings Advice Guide.

I'm hoping that your dad stays as healthy as possible for your July wedding!
